Question about navigation system update disc
I have a 2015 TLX, and I’m thinking of upgrading the navigation maps with the new version. I noticed that the disc has a navigation update as well as a software update. Does anyone know what the software update is?
Thank you!
Thank you!

This thread has been moved to the model specific forum, TLX, for better response, and I edited your post due to the move.
And the TLX prefix has been added to the A/V Forum.

I'm not aware that Acura has released a 2018 disc yet, so I'm assuming you mean the 2017 version. Yes, it's true that doing the upgrade will change the software version listed on your Infotainment Unit, however, after installing this update last year, I can tell you that I've never noticed a single software change. It's possible that there are some, but I've never seen, nor heard through another party, any noticeable changes. Of course, the navigation portion of the update will update roads and POIs, but that's very likely to be the only change you'll notice.
Of course, future discs will likely also update the software, which can fix bugs and/or introduce new features, so this information may change. Either way, you should just always assume that you're paying for and receiving an update to the navigation data only, and consider anything else a bonus.

Yes the 2018 disc came out, I already installed it this weekend. I haven’t notice any difference yet. I also haven’t used the nav system too much since the update though.

If you just installed it over the weekend, then it may not actually be fully installed yet. These updates typically take a couple hours to install, but that only puts it on the hard drive. Then, it spends the next 5 hours or so of driving time (which can take a week or more for some drivers) actually installing the navigation update. During this time, it displays a percentage in one of the corners. Once the percentage reaches 100, then it's fully installed -- only then will you start seeing any available changes.

What it is doing during those 5 hours is updating the maps. But it will always update the part of the maps where you are, so you will never notice the delay for the rest of the material. Software updates are done during the (for me) hour and 15 minute initial install. But I confess the only differences I saw were that some parking lots now have more details then before the update.

Nav update
I have a TLX A-Spec SH-AWD 2018 (got the car in September 2017) and the nav system is exactly the same as the one in my previous 2015. I had complained to Honda about the 2015 system and I really expected that corrections would be made to the 2018. Well, they were not and Honda does not want to accept any responsibility because they say it is a third party system.
