Discovered this feature which is a surprise as I thought I knew about all the little specialties of the car. When a destination is set the display can show a pink (seems red to me) straight line from your current location to the set destination. The Navigation Manual p115 also suggests then the route guidance calculation will show the straight lie distance to the destination (I will have to look for this). This feature can be turned Off or On via Navi settings->Map->Straight Line Guide.

Now it would be great if I could use that route and bypass all the traffic.

 

Yeah. It is a neat line. I leave it on all the time. Even if your destination is off the map, you can see in which direction you will need to get to.

To drive the line you would need the aviation package.

 

I think I read the 2016 TLX Coupe is supposed to have that - along with a manual transmission and exposed exhaust tips and a turbo charged engine.
