Nav traffic inaccurate

I had an experience today with the green/yellow/red traffic indicators on my navigation system. I am located in Minneapolis.

I was driving to a location about 30 minutes away. About 20 minutes into my drive I drove through an area where the traffic on the nav display indicated yellow in my direction and red in the opposite direction. I also noticed a yellow diamond indicator on my road which I looked up in the Traffic Incidents" and it said congestion. In all cases the roads were open and traffic was free flowing.

On the way back home I changed the map scale and noticed many of the roads around me indicated red or yellow. I looked like what I would expect from the peak of rush hour - but it was 1 PM and there was very light traffic. The same yellow and red were indicated in the same locations as in the first part of my trip (and the yellow congestion indicator also). The TRF indicator on the lower left of the nav screen was green.

Has anyone else had this experience - or does anyone have an explanation/theory? To me it looks like the traffic indications were from a previous rush hour and they were not an indication of the present traffic situation.

Sorry but I haven't encountered any issues. It seems to work fine for me around Miami-Fort Lauderdale. Even local roads seem accurate.

I am curious about this too, because I really don't understand the nav traffic features on my TLX Advance; the display is so different from my previous TL Tech.

On my TLX, the roads are always displayed in bright red, and I've seen no other colors, regardless of time of day, or traffic conditions.

I would appreciate any information or advice; thanks you!

Just to be sure of what you are seeing, there is the main road (reasonably solid line) and then there is the traffic flow (a fine line beside it). If you are referring to the fine line then this would suggest that you are subscribed to AcuraLink Real-Time Traffic, but as you said bright red it does not sound like the traffic flow indicator. It may not have been activated or has expired.

I have an 11 MDX Adv and it takes some times 20-30 minutes for a traffic flow/incident to show on my Navi. About the same amount of time or more to clear the event after its over. I think XM only knows what is being reported. Maybe your home town is as slow as mine with traffic updates? I also had to change my screen colors to get more of a contrast with traffic flow lines.

I think the issue I saw is a bit different. The TLX uses AcuraLink as a source for traffic. XM traffic is no longer supported. It seems to acquire the traffic signal a lot faster via AcuraLink than via the XM traffic info I have in my RDX and TSX. Sometime my RDX and TSX take 5 minutes to get the traffic. I get the green TRF indicator and the green, yellow, red lines on the screen via AcuraLink within a few minutes of starting the TLX.

I am going out for an appointment in about an hour. I will check and see how the traffic displays look and provide an update when I get back. Hopefully it was just a glitch yesterday.

Today all was normal on my nav units traffic indicators. There must have been some kind of glitch yesterday.
