How to get USB to refresh file list?

I've had my USB thumb drive in for a few weeks. Yesterday I took it out, added a few songs to it and put it back in my car. I can see and play the new songs on my PC but they're not showing up when viewed in the car. I tried renaming the volume thinking that would trigger the car to completely scan the USB and refresh the list, but that did not work.

How do I force the car to discover the new songs on the USB?

Thanks,
Jon

^^ Are you sure they are not there? One thing you will notice is that when you add new songs to a USB drive, they may not appear in the order you would expect them to be.

If you check the USB on your computer and the songs are located on the USB drive, then there is no doubt it should there when you plug it in the car as well....You may just have to go and hunt for where its located (which can be a pain in the a$$)

Check this out...this may help you: http://techmadeplain.com/2014/how-to...ve-car-stereo/

Thanks for the reply.

I figured out a little while ago (and have been meaning to re-post) that the audio system does not sort by file name. The original collection of songs was organized by file name when created so it appeared that way in the car. The new songs went to the bottoms of their respective directories when viewed in the car, not where they "should" be alphabetically. I downloaded a small program that sorts the FAT file system, so now all is good.
