HDD? It's a feature. No mention in manual.
^^ That is just a silly comment. The days of cassette tape are long gone, and the CD player may be gone in a few years but until CD's are no longer commercially sold then it is essential to provide the facility. You don't have to use it.
By the way, what Acura car do you drive?

just took delivery of v6 advance TLX yesterday.
Past cars 09 TL, 2012 TSX. Wife currently has 11 MDX.

Just picked up a 2011 TSX Tech pkg about a month ago. Interesting conversation. Odd choices for music (HDD vs CD vs Bluetooth vs XM). CD is the only one that seems to maximize the full potential of the audio system. I've got my CD collection ripped at CD quality onto my server (160GB+ of music). I wonder if I can find a USB drive that large
And what's the point of ripping WAV files? Either they are getting compressed which defeats the purpose of copying them or if they are ripped a CD quality you can fit, what two whole CDs onto 15GB?
I guess it is all moot. I hardly live in my car and my HOME stereo is where I can truly enjoy good sound. I'm okay with "good enough" on my 15 minute drive to work.

I just get weary reading slightly hysterical criticisms of things that people don't know how to use or don't want to use it. The sound quality of HDD playback is excellent, better IMHO than streaming music or iTunes playback, etc. Other than the few DTS CDs that are available, that do sound fabulous btw, copied CDS are all available and searchable (by voice) by Artist, album, genre, etc. As for capacity, I have just under 900 songs on my HDD, and have used less than 15% of capacity. I don't know 6 or 7k songs, so really don't worry too much about capacity. I often use the random play feature for all of the music on my HDD.
BTW, I occasionally access some of the streaming services, but without a WIFI setup in the car, I find they use too much data which COSTS. I would rather play the older music that I enjoy and use the radio if I want to listen to newer stuff. The main point is that it's nice to have choices, so why complain so vociferously. As others have noticed and commented, it seems that those that complain the loudest are often not current Acura owners or never have been. Soon, we will all have Apple play, have onboard wifi, and will be able to turn our attention to other matters to complain about. Anyhow, I'm off to the BMW forum to complain about their boring interiors.
Ciao!

So let me get this right!
I'm gonna go to my computer, use software to burn my digital music (flac, lossless, mp3, acc - whatever) on to a CD medium. Just to use the HDD!?
Or just synch that same digital music to my 64Gb iPod Touch and have full Music Search capabilities without the extra steps.
Hmm.....

^ I suspect the intent of the design is to have your choice of both not one or the other. I'm not sure why anyone would load music to the hard drive if they can just plug in the player or sync it through bluetooth. Loading it onto the HD is probably the last choice....
