Dual Topic: Screen beeps and e-mail/text alerts
Right after I picked up my TLX, I was able to banish the annoying beeps that happen whenever you press a "button" on the touch screen. However, I couldn't find how to make them go away from the "upper" screen (where my sat-nav would be had I gotten the Tech pkg.).
Today, I learned from a very nice and helpful tech support dude at Honda that if you don't have nav, you can't make the beeping stop for whatever you do on the upper screen. Oh well.
Also, I wasn't able to set up e-mail or text alerts. The option to do that was grayed-out. The tech explained that the latest update to Android eliminated that capability. So it's Google's fault, not the car's. He said there "might" be a tweak to Kit-Kat enabling that feature. But, for now, no reading (or being read) my texts or e-mail while on the road. Just as well, I guess. I don't need the distraction.

Texting worked as soon as I paired my phone. Matter of fact, it surprised me when it asked if I wanted the text read out to me. I have a Galaxy S4 with 4.4.3. I can also reply. I cannot read email, but I am okay with that.
The tech probably has an iPhone.

On this screen, there should be an item labelled, "Show Notifications". This is likely not enabled for you. Enable it.
Back out of the menus to get to the home screen and then restart your phone. Now go to your car and check to see if the "email and texts" are are still grayed out. Hopefully they no longer will be....

I can have my texts read to me but it will not reply with the canned responses. It gives me an error message that states "unable to send email". I have an iPhone 6 and iOS 8. Do I have to live with this or is there something I can do to reply?
Works fine for me. All I had to do was connect the phone to BT. Although I have an Android with 4.4.2. There was no specific configurations that I know of to send or receive.
I have the same thing happening on the g/f's ILX and my BB but although it says it didn't send a message, it actually does. Weird I know....
No disrespect to anybody, but the iPhone does not work with the built in text messaging feature. It never has since the dawn of the feature in Acura cars. You can always refer to the 'official' site at HandsFreelink and use the 'find a phone' feature to try different carriers etc. I have a link to what you'll see with an iPhone 6 and TLX Tech.
Find the iPhone to Connect to Your Acura
You can overcome this by using the SiriEyesFree feature that is activated by a long press of the [talk] button.
