AcuraLink features
AcuraLink features
There has not been any discussion about this web browser feature. It allows you to check on the status of your car, schedule appointments, get messages, and send a searched destination to your car. It is strange that this destination is not saved in your previous destinations.
It would be really cool if there was a car finder feature that would identify the location of your car on a map, like the iPhone finder app.
My car is parked in underground parking where there is no cell phone reception, XM service, AM service, or remote car start from my apartment, but the AcuraLink feature can communicate with the car. Neat!

I'm pretty sure it uses a cellular service to communicate from the car.
I can't bring myself to pay that much for an app that sends map data to the car. That's a feature siri handsfree link should already be able to do, and it should not require me to have to hold the phone in my hand to do it.
Reasonable, but that is not its only function. It is free for 1 year in Canada, and I think 3 in the US. No reason not to use it if you have it. Plus in Canada you cannot voice enter a full address, so if I am going somewhere unfamiliar I can research/enter the address from home and sent to the car. It is more convenient.
The free "standard" service level includes little more than traffic data for the nav. The premium levels include the car-monitoring features, and the nav destination linking. The premium levels are hundreds of dollars per year, with only a couple months free trial.
The way I see it, that couple hundred dollars makes acuralink one of the absolute most expensive apps ever to grace the App Store, and even by paying that much you still don't get anywhere near the level of usability or convenience of a Google maps search done by voice directly through the cars system.
