Wood grain only?

I don't see any options to get an interior without the plastic wood grain. Am I missing it, or are all TLX owners stuck with it?

I don't think it's plastic. I think it's veneer.

My dealer said it was genuine wood veneer.

Whatever it is, I'm not a fan. It's too shiny, and I don't think it goes well with the ebony interior.

I was thinking that it might not be real wood, but noticed that the brochure uses the word wood, so I think it is real, not plastic.

I would guess that there will be aftermarket options. Carbon fiber "wrap" would look really good on the Graystone interior.

What's funny is that when the 4G came out, people complained about the lack of woodgrain!

I like the wood grain. I think the fake carbon fiber in my 3G look bad. I think bmw with wood grain look much better than with that metal silver trim finish

It's real wood veneer. It looks about the same as what I had in my BMW.

I think it looks particularly rich with Ebony.

I had aluminum trim in my Audi. Not sure it was any better (or worse) than wood veneer.

Wood look vs aluminum look (fake or real) appears to a trend with the latter becoming more popular, possibly because it is cheaper to produce. It's like pant worn half way down your ass... may be popular but that does not make it better. Providing an alternative moves Acura away from its business model (provide an overall good product with limited options which get the car into your hands faster).

Yeah...aluminum tripm is cheaper. It's thin....easy to stamp. Wood (even veneer) has to be cured, stained, some sort of protective coating put on it (which is the "shine" you see). It has to be thinkc enough that it doesn't splinter (especially around the edges) and strong enough to withstand heat, cold, hunidty, extreme dryness. Wood's a more expensive trim over aluminum, and probably even carbon fiber.

The GS350 F-Sort has that aluminum trim that is very thinand so easy to bend and leave dents in it. The regular GS has the wood grain

And they have a valid reason. Its about options - wood grain for the more mature crowd, carbon fiber for the younger ones. Not like the current one-style-fits-all tlx wood trims

I'm coming from a 2007 type-S, and I absolutely loved the interior. So I am a biased party here.

It is hard to get away from the feeling that I'm making a huge step down even considering a TLX. I can totally see why they would want to limit the amount of variance in their build process, but the one size fits all approach is disappointing.

The TLX only features the 'plastic' wood grain, no real wood is available. However, a significant interior commission is the lack of a fo-metal/carbon-fiber trim option. TLX is supposed to be very sporty and compete with the BMW 3-Series. I don't sportiness in fake wood, and hidden exhaust pipes.

I am going to use "mactac paper" on mine....probably a nice "flower" pattern to match my personality *lol*

IN all seriousness, I wish there was a way to have the option of something else but they are likely keeping that for teh Type S model (lol)

Why not use a nice paisley pattern?
