During a test drive of the 2.4 I tried double tapping the paddle shifters to see if that would prompt a double downshift and I don't think it did- maybe I was in the wrong IDS mode but had hoped it would work in all of them. Obviously with 8 speeds you'll want a double downshift to really feel much. Anyone accomplish this? Also, does this tranny only rev match in sport+ mode or in all modes?? Thanks

 

No physical reason why it should not. I was able to muilt tap the one in my 335is. That's not to say Honda did not neuter the DTC software.

 

From what I remember reading only in sport+ mode will it blip/rev match for optimal shifts. I also thought I read that in sport+ its a 2 step downshift to give you a bigger boost.

I did not get a chance to test a double tap of the pedal manually with my time in the seat.

 

Alas, if it does not rev match all of my downshifts or make me go to sport+ to request a double, this is a deal breaker! Ugh...

 

I think we need a current owner to test this out. I am only repeating hearsay at this point.

 

Yes it will. But the shifts on the 9 speed are wicked slow. I commented on my experience on this in the transmissions thread I think on page 2. Haven't checked if sports plus speeds up the shifts. The shifts make the biggest impact gears 1-6, but the higher gears don't do much in the way of engine braking.
