When does the 2016 TLX come out?
I'm looking to upgrade my 2002 TL type S. When does the 2016 TLX come out? I hope that they fix the transmission issues and perhaps put the steering wheel warmer into the US version of the car...
I would be very surprised if they add any new features to it - you'll likely need to wait for the MMC for any minor changes beyond bug fixes.
Didn't the current TLX start in late July, early Aug? The bigger question is what would possibly change in the 2016? They roll in production line fixes as they build the cars. So the later you buy a 2015 the better it might be. Any transmission changes are likely to be software and not hardware. So this could be updated in the 2015.
I can't really fault anyone for waiting for the 2016. But I'm not sure what I'd expect to change from the 1st to 2nd year.

The Honda Pilot will have heated steering wheel option and more extensive interior ambient lighting (according the press release), the new ILX and RDX have LED front turn signals intergrated in the Jewel Eye headlight units. Maybe these, along with software tweeks find their way into the '16 TLX.

If they work out the transmission glitches then I'd be happy. They may get worked out with a software update I thought was coming in March.
The new Pilot is an all new model. The ILX and RDX are both getting extensive MMC's. The TLX is in it's first year. About the only thing I'd expect are 1st year production glitches to be worked out. I'd hope they have some new wheel designs but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I have no major issues with mine. Minor annoyances only but nothing that I can say that would make me want to turn anyone away from the model.
I plan to wait for the 16 as well, I only hope that they add sensors at the back doors to unlock the car and power folding side mirrors. Those plus the 1st year model bug fixes would be great. After owning the first model year RL I am staying away from 1st model year cars.
Why wouldn't they change the trim structures to match the rest of the lineup - standalone AcuraWatch trims and whatnot - I feel like that could be done easily enough. And the TLX should keep up with the rest of the lineup given how important it is.
Thinking of my US counterparts, they should also add the heated steering wheel, heated windshield, and headlight washers to the Advance model. These are available on the Elite model in Canada.
I could see a TLX +AcuraWatch added to both 4 and 6 cylinder models. Tech Packages already have the content. I just wish for more consistency in naming conventions across models. Base, Tech+ and Advance. At least the RDX and MDX will be similar, but the sedans are a bit of a hodgepodge. I wonder if the NSX will have trims or be built to order?
yeah, i used to think that with Honda/Acura products, but seeing how quickly they upgraded the two model year old MDX, nothing will surprise me at this point. maybe Type-S, SH-AWD on the I4?
I just leased my 2015 TLX i4 in August 2014. I am very happy with it.
I wonder how the 2018 TLXs will look if I can get one in August 2017. I guess a 2017 TLX will do.
Guess a 2018/2017 TLX still won't fly.
I like the idea of autonomous driving but I still want to be the driver most of the time.

I won't be a buyer until they come out with a tasteful Type S version. The current version is too conservative and that hidden exhaust with reflectors looks atrocious. Not to mention the seat suck and are too shallow, they end significantly before my knee. The Lexus GS Fsport and BMW have nice seats with thigh support, Acura should take notes, and build their cars for people taller than ooompa loompas. I traded my IS 350 in for my TSX because of the crappy, non supportive, uncomfortable shallow seats.

Seats fit me fine. And most others on here too. A childhood friend of mine had a Dad who was so tall (I think about 7' 4") he drove a pickup truck with the front seat removed and he sat in the back seat. He had to duck his head to walk through doors. Now THAT guy had seat issues. With the TLX seat all the way back I'm not even getting close to the pedals. Expanding thigh supports are nice. My wifes Mini has them and those seats are great. Maybe take a look at the Mini. More room than you think. I had them on a previous BMW but I don't miss them that much. I find the seats on the TLX to be better than the 3-series seats (non sport).

The ILX is going to sell maybe 25,000 copies. The TLX could well double that. Right now the ILX has 6 trims with one power train and the TLX has 7 with two power trains (and AWD!). I'm guessing we'll see the TLX greatly expand it's trim range (The MDX has 16 trims with one power train!). You would also have to figure that an A-Spec package is coming to the TLX right? And what about SHAWD to the I4? And maybe a manual? I'd like to see Acura expand the SHAWD trims especially - there is no reason the FWD V6 should have more trims than the SHAWD V6 IMO. It starts adding up really quickly and I don't know how Acura is going to handle it. Hell the V6 SHAWD could (should?) have 7 trims all by itself! Like so:
TLX SHAWD Base
TLX SHAWD w/Acurawatch
TLX SHAWD Tech
TLX SHAWD Tech w/Acurawatch
TLX SHAWD Tech w/Acurawatch and A-Spec
TLX SHAWD Advance
TLX SHAWD Advance A-Spec
It would be nice to see the HDMI-in that the ILX is getting move into the TLX thought I doubt it.
I agree that the TLX won't see many changes this year least of all the tranny since it's their star child. CarPlay and Android Auto perhaps? That I even doubt it.

One thing i would wish for is more interior ambient lighting. Obviously older cars didn't even have it and it's not at all necessary, but deff adds to the luxury feel. Models like the new C-class have awesome lighting and I had hoped the TLX would have lights on the door panels like the f30 3-series do. After all it's gotta be dirt cheap to add a few leds and fiber optics. I am glad Acura added rear ambient lighting rather than just up front. Probably looks great on light grey seats.
Agreed. I think most of us on this forum long for a Type-S and I've read that Acura people have hinted to that. Most reviews I've read say that the 2.4 has adequate power and is more fun to drive than the nose-heavy 6. With that in mind I'd like to see a type-s with a turbo 4 putting out 240-280hp. A true manual would be nice but if the DCT could be beefed up to handle the turbo I'd buy it!

The rear door handles are not lit, which is stupid. But yes they did add rear ambient lights. Basically the same as up front- two blue lights that shine down from the overhead map light area.

I must be the exception, but I was very happy with my first year 2005 RL and I am also very happy with my new 2015 TLX. Love this car. Apparently I've not experienced the issues that others have, and I'm thankful for that. The recent recall (transmission-related) on my car was a big non-event, mostly a software upgrade. I'd buy this car all over again, in a heartbeat.
