Waiting til next year to see if there is a hybrid
I finally admitted to myself I'll wait until next year and bought new tires for my old Acura (I was hoping to avoid this and sell my old car this year). I figure by next year - they'll have the new drive train for the Accord hybrid, the Lexus ES Hybrid will have the mid year refresh and Acura has one more shot at releasing a hybrid version. I understand not everyone wants a hybrid but I do so that gives me some good options. I've driven the Accord Hybrid a decent amount and really like it but would like just a tad more luxury.

Honda did not drop the hybrid. They've moved production to Japan so they don't have a 2016 yet - possibly they won't have one. They'll be releasing a new model next year with a new power train and most likely a new battery supplier as their current supplier couldn't keep up with demand. The plugin model has been dropped. I'd hope that the Acura hybrid would be more MPG oriented and as long as it had 7.5 or less 0-60 I'd be thrilled. It probably won't happen but I want what I want.

Quite frankly I think that's a real long shot at this point.
I think Acura needs high volume sellers and a TLX hybrid - while super cool and great for the the GREEN image they claim to want - would not be a high volume seller.
Given the limited R&D funds they have I would suspect a Acura CUV would be more likely given the popularity of those.
Truth be told I don't think anyone has any idea what they have in mind since the new guy took over. It will be interesting to see what the TLX MMC looks like - you may be happy you waited even if it isn't a hybrid.

IMHO, as long as oil companies rule the economic roost, hybrids of any kind and hydrogen powered cars will never be mainstream. The Prius and Camry are as mainstream as you will get, but they do not satisfy the ever increasing number of buyers who want some degree of luxury and performance. You can add to that the North American reluctance to embrace diesel technology as they have in Europe and other parts of the world and our conditioned love of larger and larger engines……as we and our vehicles get larger.

I don;t see a TLX hybrid probably for the foreseeable future, with gas prices low and the TLX a low volume car making a "economical" hybrid will not be prudent, but a Sports Hybrid could sell, I wonder how well the Q50 Sport Hybrid sells?

okay, but they still dropped the ILX hybrid from the lineup.
Hold your hands out, palms up. Wish in one hand and shit in the other. Which hand fills up faster!?
it's no use wishing, when Acura is headed towards electric motor hybrids, and not the hybrid YOU are wanting

My grandmother used this exact same saying when I was a kid. Hardly ever hear it nowadays. Brought back memories

Same thing could be happening with larger sedans. As new transmissions, more fuel efficient engines, push non-hybrid mileage up, the cost-benefit for all that extra engineering, hardware, weight, loss of utility, just isn't going to be worth it only for added FE. But if you use that tech for more performance (like the RLX Sports Hybrid) it might be more appealing.
Hybrids purely for FE may only make sense in dedicated designs like the Prius.

I felt this way also
But realized that my only choice for hybrid was accord
I love accord but tlx is a sexy bad ass car
8 speed transmission helps fuel economy
If I don't hit Bay Area traffic, I get 40 mpg on freeway

I personally wouldnt wait for it to maybe show up. Acura killed off the ILX and who knows when the Acura hybrid will be back (besides the rlx)
The 15 accord hybrid got 50 mpg city and 45 mpg highway! Thought that was incredible if your into it the the mpg the new 16 accords seem nice and they should probably be rolling out the hybrids soonish.
I would personally choose Acura over a Honda. And in my sh-awd I can get 33-34 mpg on all hwy, and I know the 2 wheel drive and 4cyl can do better than that! not bad for a non hyrbid.
