TLX is CRAP

Broad brush strokes? All. The. Time.
BMW 328i
Q50
Hyundai Genesis
MB E350
Altima Coupe
G37 (Yes, I know, both Nissan...)
RS4
Jetta (just the grille, really...)
Bottom Line:
It's all intellectual design theft on one level or another. Save for iconic designs like Corvettes where the design evolution is clear, there's only so much "newness" you can design into a mainstream vehicle while still remaining conscientious of current trends in taste. Silhouettes and macro panels are going to be similar. It's little design elements, like the TLX's sideview mirrors, that really set vehicle appearances apart in today's day and age.

I need to see interior, new tech goodies, but VERY interested in 6 cyl with 9 speed auto and 4 wheel steering.....sounds like fun.
Someone said wished it was longer like a 4G TL....same wheelbase and only 3 inches overall shorter....doesn't matter that much.
I think the Jewel eye headlights are somewhat bizarre looking though.

I am a 4G owner and I am drooling since yesterday!! I have already sent an e-mail to my dealership to make sure that as soon as they can do an order, to put one down for me in white!! That is how much I love this car, even if I haven't seen the production car nor its interior

Good Vibes
The reporters say it's the same length as the older model TL and I hear it's based on the Accord. Should I assume generous rear leg room for the growing kids or just get an RLX?

*lol* Cause I think this thing is as sexy as can be! Look at the buzz this thing is creating and from people who have been bashing Acura for years. I know its not perfect but the best we have seen in a LONG time from Acura. If it looks this good in photos, imagine in the flesh....and with PALE skin (WHITE)
You are I are way too much alike!! Except I will have you beat with the 2015 model but at least you can use my photos this time to help you decide if you want to copy me rather than me copying you like last time *lol*

Now we will have to visit you on the 5G sub forum .
The TLX is a very nice car,i it would come in a twin turbo version.

^^ or you could drive out East and check it out in person I can't wait for the 5G section and I will be excited if I was the first 5G owner in my hometown, which by judging on how unpopular Acura is, this could well happen.
I suspect that Acura will do much much better with this generation than the the 4G which means that our TLXX won't be as unique but oh well...C'est la vie.

Looking forward to the 5G sub section,i am sure members will be eager to mod what is already a good looking car.
The TLX along with the RDX and MDX will do good things for Acura.
I will be going to the Toronto International Auto Show held between Feb 14 to 23 and will definitely be looking at the TLX.

I am going to the Mtl car show next week but I doubt it will be there....that's OK though, I'd likely be like a groupie at the Acura booth if they did! It would be weird to be escorted out by security *lol*

Mademoiselle Chanel!!
Well, everyone wanted more and they appear to be delivering. But now folks want it cheap too, wild. So far Acura has been solid for me so why stray for the sake of a badge or status? Especially when the TLX looks so promising. I'm spoiled by the SH-AWD so much that when driving other cars I miss the riding on rails affect.

I don't care for the looks of the Q50 and the name makes me think of the SUV. The secret sauce that Acura has is the SH-AWD and PAWS (which I'd like see how this drives). I didn't set my expectations to high nor was I preparing for a disaster, but this things looks like it's got the goods.

From the side, it looks like a Lexus.
I've never liked cars that look like everything else on the street. That's why I like my Type S (and my Stingray).
All the gadgetry is great, the all wheel drive is great. But I'm a guy-guys are visually stimulated. This looks like a Lexus and/or everything else on the road.

Our '13 Accord has tremendous rear leg room; an inch or two more than my TL. I assume the TLX will have ample leg room as well.

I think it looks great! My main gripe I hope they change is getting rid of the paddle shifters. Or maybe leave them in for use during a "D" mode downshift on the highway. As for "S" mode, however, I would much rather have a lateral engagement in the center stick. While I can work the wheel with one hand, when you're in heavier turns sometimes, your hands have to shift position on the wheel, and I can't realistically move my hands to get to where I can tap those paddles to match the downshift with the accelerator. With performance driving, it's a much more natural skill to work the wheel with one hand while your other taps the center stick to manipulate your gear.
So I guess the ideal would be to have an option for both.

looks like a Kia Optima. I might get one, as the gm of acura of honolulu has told me that he will let me know when it comes. I lost my 010 tl to a accident. Bastards crushed my car, & dug out.

IMO looks great. Do want to see the interior. I hope Acura got rid of the emergency brake handle on the center console. It is in the way and an eye sore. I have never used mine. Acura states best mpg in it's class. Anticipating what those numbers will be. Also expecting some useful and fun new tech features. Please make it in a coupe. Can tell by the lines that would be a hit. CLX

It's inconceivable to me that they continue trying to make this derpy chrome V shield thing work. It's been horrible forever. They need a new idea...

Also they have the new Civic Si Coupe... that forgive me for saying looks more like an SUV than a sports coupe. Oh well, sometimes I think Honda is trying to make Acura look good by messing up Honda - lol.
And a note to make about this thread that may contradict what I myself wrote above but what the heck:
I just have a hard time believing that when you put a bunch of the best engineers and best product managers together and give them a reasonable budget... they'll come up with crap (as the title of this thread implies). Knowing first hand how complex engineering can be and how intellectual property and business can mess up everything, and seeing what these Honda/Acura teams of business, engineering, marketing, have accomplished in the past, I think they deserve just a little bit of credit for their efforts.
Others just give up. Unlike these teams that still live with the spirit of Soichiro Honda and his philosophy that 99% of success is failure.

Suzuka Master
Infiniti's approach to,paddle shifters is they are mounted to the column so they do not move, so by being long you can get to them regardless of how titled you have the steering wheel. My M37S had them and I loved the look and feel.

I think it looks great. Could it have been better? Yes. But it looks much better than what I was fearing it was going to look like. I particularly like the smaller size, more like a Gen 3. Good design is all about proportion and I think Acura got it right. They maintained the Gen 4's wheelbase in a car that is 8" shorter. Almost perfect!
#160
I agree, I wish they were fixed on the column and/or also on the gearshift. Having them turn with the wheel doesn't seem like a good idea unless you're in a F1 car.
