Unfortunately there are no more manual Acuras. This has eliminated Acura as a consideration for my next vehicle.
Infiniti and Lexus have also eliminated manuals from their line up.
Looks like my next car will be German, as BMW and Audi are the only ones still offering sedans with decent power and manual transmissions.

If Acura's auto tranny was even remotely close to what Ferrari's auto tranny is, a lot of enthusiasts would not complain about the lack of the manual gearbox in TLX, but at the current state of the affairs, the 9-speed auto is a total POS and 8 dct is far from perfect, so yeah I see why some might be upset about the lack of 6MT.

if some one is upset that an auto manufacture dropped the 6MT, go to another brand.

I am not upset that they dropped 6MT cause I knew that that would happen eventually. What I am upset about is that they made poor choices with their auto tranny fort TLX. They went with the garbage 9-speed ZF instead of sticking with 8-speed ZF that most other manufacturers do. The homegrown 8 DCT has potential, but at this point, I would consider it to be a beta product, so it will probably take another generation of cars to figure out all the quirks and issues.

I like Ford's approach with the Mustang manuals, which like others provides warnings of an imminent collision, but also primes the brakes for more aggressive response when the driver reacts. But that still isn't full automatic braking, which eventually might become required.

I drove nothing but MT's from the age of 16 to 45. These days I much prefer to drive an auto. I have an old 1992 Mazda B2200 truck with a 5 speed MT and it's fun to ram around with it on the weekends but for daily commute driving it's just too much of a pain in the arse for me. In fact my wife just bought a new 2016 Honda CR-V with a (gasp!) CVT that I like driving. I guess I got old

^well, you arent the one complaining about loss of 6MT.
Ive never had an automatic, save for my very first car...and the auto tranny went out......and it would cost more to replace than the car was worth....so....from then on, always always 3 pedals
my current 2006 TL is 6MT. and I'll hold onto it for maybe 5 more years?
by then, the used market for 6MT sports cars will be affordable

The 8 Speed ZF gearbox could not be used because that is only for longitudinally mounted engine cars , the TLX is a traverse mounted engine car (typical of FWD layouts)
In defense of the TLX, the ZF 9 speed may have had early reliability/functionality problems but performance wise is/was one of the best/most sophisticated automatic transmission for a traverse mounted engine car, is used by other premium manufacturers too such as Land Rover.

Prior to my TLX V6, I had an Accord Sport CVT. ZF9 shortcomings notwithstanding, I'll take it over the CVT any day. Acura could have easily gone the same direction as the Maxima's powertrain which would have been completely tragic,

I always have had at least one car with an MT. That said for what I was using the car fot the best transmission I ever had was the 7DCT in the 335is. MT's are fun but they are the slow way home.
Even the Corvette CR7 factory race cars have been using sequential paddle shift transmission even thought some versions sold to the public like the Z06 & ZR1 (now ZL1) were Tremec manual transmissions only till this cycle. This cycle Chevy has added an 8 & 10 speed paddle shifters for these cars.

Its not all about being the fastest now, its about efficiency. Manufacturers have to meet Fed CAFE standards & MT's are inefficient & hurt the numbers. The fact that the modern AT or DCT is more efficient than an MT means they will try to do away with them. The win, win, win for most people is a more efficient, faster & easier car to drive.
The MT's are fun but like Double Pumpers, Tri-Power & Dual Quads before them the curtain is coming down on that era in automotive history
