Question Technology Package with Base TLX?

Folks,
I'm a Waze user with an Iphone so I know that I cannot use Waze with Appleplay. But should I get the tech package with a base 2018 TLX??

About $40 per month more on a lease.

Thoughts, please and Thanks!!

If CarPlay is standard across all platforms you don't get the map on the car screen. You do get the verbal instruction through the car especially the speed trap warnings. Don't have CarPlay in my 440 but do have it in the COBRA & there is zero problems using Waze with it. Listen to my music/phone calls through CarPlay & directions on Waze. System mutes music while Waze is giving directions or alerts..

Can't help you with the tech package decision as I don't really know the package contents.

Depends, do you care about: Perforated leather, blind spot detection, upgraded ELS surround sound stereo system, built in navigation? If yes, then yes! if no, then no!

Thanks, while I would like the add'l safety features, my WAZE preference makes the navigation unnecessary. Hard to justify the $480/year for the two safety features, even with the better sound and the nice leather. I'm one that doen't want my car to have better sound or furniture than my home!

Thanks folks!

At least prior to the '18 models, I noticed a huge difference between the base and Technology packages. In addition to the perforated seats, the iMMD in the dash of the technology package was a big step up in function and appearance. To me the difference was pretty huge, but of course we all value features differently. Best of luck with your purchase!

I would get it just on the audio upgrade and perforated leather. Would also say nav is useful, but not when using phone pairing. I tend to always leave the map display on, so here in Canada it uses up some precious data if only using Carplay/Auto maps.

I would say the sound system is worth it. It's funny I've had the car for a month and have not used the factory nav and instead used google maps or waze from car play. Honestly I would have not even bothered with Nav if that was an option (I Have the A-Spec)

Of course it's a personal preference, but in my opinion and experience, the additional features are well worth the $40 bucks per month.

I have a base TLX V6 and a Tech package in my 15 MDX. Honestly, the ELS should be the main driver in opting for the Tech package. I use Waze in the MDX for all road trips as it's far more useful than the OEM navi, which is pretty much the same as was in my old 07 Accord V6.

It is a shame that Waze cannot be used in conjunction with CarPlay.

I agree 100%. I was even tempted to pick up some cheap Android just to use Android Auto and Waze.
