Hey everyone, does anyone know how Acura piped the engine sound into the cabin?

 

The sound is artificial and emitted from the speakers rather than acoustically piped from the engine bay. This can be verified if you disable the active noise cancellation from the hidden menu, as the engine sounds are disabled with it as well.

 

 

What else will this disable besides that fake engine sound?

 

Active noise control will be disabled as well.

 

I'm going to have to remove the unit to do some testing, i read on some other forums they has to remove it. The hidden menu doesn't disable it forever unless someone knows a trick on how to through the menu

 

Just pull the panel from the bottom of the passenger dash and unplug the silver box on the right side. I had unplugged mine briefly on my 15 but didn't really notice a difference so I plugged it back in.

 

The music in the car sounds like its coming from tweeters and less bass, i read on some other forums that unplugging this solved that issue and if it will kill that fake engine piping that will be great as well, I will try this Friday afternoon.

 

FYI - This is the ANC/Active Sound Control unit. The connector to remove is the "A".
I haven't tried this, so do it at your own risk.

I checked the hidden menu and dont see any ANC options or sections. Can you tell me where it is as I checked page 1 and 2 of the hidden menu and no dice.

 

You can access the ANC settings in the developer menu. It is accessed by pressing info, setting, & back buttons at the same time. As soon as the diagnostic menu comes up, release the setting & back button but keep holding the info button further for 5 seconds. The developer menu will pop up on the upper screen. The ANC settings will be on the 3rd page.

 

Does anyone else get an audible tone when initially disabling ANC? JIC, I go into the dev menu, go to page 3, select the ANC option, change it from ON to OFF. If I flip it back to ON and then OFF again the tone stops.

 

so i disabled the anc in the hidden menu and to me the car is much better, music sounds crisp and clear and no more fake engine noise. I'm going to remove this module tomorrow. the audible sounds is normal for about a minute then it turns off

 

hey guys have the anc unit disconnected probably took 2 min to complete, all is working well with the car no extra noise. the cabin seems quieter to me on the highway and the music is way better.
