Should We Call The TLX the 3G TSX Rather Than 5G TL? Did Acura Discontinue The TL?
#41
The TSX is basically a rebadged Euro Accord. It is based on the European Accord platform.
On the other hand, the 2G/3G/4G TL has always been sharing the same world platform as the North American (NA) Accord.
So if the TLX was to switching to the European Accord platform instead of the NA Accord world platform, then the TLX would be, in no doubt, the next generation TSX.
But wait a minute.
Due to cost cutting, Honda has decided to kill off the European Accord platform, and thus the demise of the TSX.
And the new TLX continues to share the same world platform as the North American Accord, just like the 2G/3G/4G TL has always been in the past.
In addition, the upcoming new generation Euro Accord will, this time around, be based on the 5G-TL/TLX instead.
Therefore, 5G-TL -> TLX -> Euro Accord; and the TSX name is gone forever.

I don't mind so much what acura calls it, but the interior dimensions were a bit underwhelming. Still, the car seems fantastic and I hope it sells well. I'll be upgrading to it in a few months probably.

The vehicle platforms on which the vehicles are riding, are also the deciding factor.

Your still not getting the serious downgrade of suspension/materials/interior space/tires/rims/reduced fuel tank capacity.
Did Lexus IS removed DWB suspension?. it has longer wheel base than TLX but far shorter turning radius.

Euro Accord is still on sale in Australia/EU/China. so there is no cost cutting in those markets.

It seems to me that you need other things to do in your life (no that I've been told the same thing on here lately )

You continue to carry on your tirade about this serious downgrade, even in the FACE of people telling you otherwise, people that have ACTUALLY driven the car.

No Magazine has tested 6AT TL FWD. TLX is clear downgrade. Don't forget the removal of DWB suspension. It has same turning radius as previous TL (which has wider tires) so its more cosmetic reduction in length.
TLX is German approach of lack of quality and reliability. see the more often transmission oil change.

Only car with this has been my GT-R. Engine oil was what I thought you originally meant, which has been a HUGE pain point of Acuras.

Speaking of which, I sincerely apologize for my outburst and disrespect of you the other day. I was out of line. I am too old to change but I will try and contain my pasiion for things.

No worries. I too apologise if i came off as confrontational or as being an ass. It wasnt my intention.

Acura did say that they discontinued the TSX, but what they say and do, are not always one in the same...the V6 TLX is more of a replacement for the TSX V6 than the TL IMO, but I could be wrong. If you look at the side view of the TLX, it has the same wedge shape as the TSX, not so much the same as the 4G TL's shape.

Not sure what one is comparable to the 335 and the other to a 328, that is strange

I test drove the TLX V6 Tech 2 days ago, and I honestly enjoyed driving the 2G TSX for the first time, more than the TLX, and it didn't come close to the first time I drove my '10 TL SH-AWD. I'm hoping that the TLX SH-AWD will turn out a lot better. Oh yeah, I totally slammed the gas from a stop, and the car tried to do a right hand turn! Torque steer is more prevalent this time than in a 4G TL V6 (without SH-AWD). The TLX really did look nice in person though. One other thing, the space in the rear seat seemed a lot tighter than the numbers suggest, maybe its the height of the rear seat, because my kids' heads were close to the roof and the tallest is only 5' 3". My fingers are crossed for Acura to give us a Type S in the next couple of years...
#54
Hopefully that's because Acura has something else in store for the 335...Type S?

^^^^^
According to Acura, the AWD TL was already the "Type-S" equivalent for the 4G TL vehicle line. Therefore, Acura did not see the need to release another Type-S trim model.
Presumably, Acura could also apply this excuse to the TLX model.

there isnt going to be a different package called the type-s.
just the shawd model.
#60
Now that you mention it, that probably is the reason...I wonder why Acura chose such narrow tires anyway? What's wrong with the Michellins they used for so many years?
#61
you should never trust the operation manuals of German cars. There powertrain warranties are 4 year 50k usually. most of them will be at junk prices by 100k mileage.
#62
Not that I disagree with either one of your reasoning, but the TLX was designed by the 3G team and the TLX looks like an evolutionary design of the 3G. If that mentality persists and the same team is involved at MMC they all know how well the Type-S was received. It would be a great opportunity for Acura to bring some excitement back to its 4 door line up. One thing is for sure, if they bring it back with some nice goodies, I'm in. Ahhh, but I digress.

It has lost DWB suspension and still not enough spending on interior. it lost Japanese quality. Lexus IS is still Japan made.

Nothing like a one man crusade to kill the TLX. Good luck with that. Why not grab a sign and picket your local Acura dealer? Let every potential customer know how you feel! Be sure and take lots of selfies and post them on social media!

Not sure what the photos are showing. What is the "price" is the top photo vs the bottom one.

Not sure why he has this crusade with the TLX, But he really does love Acura. Ask him about Acuras superior Ground Clearance, most aerodynamic mirrors, and Best cd. Oh and ask him why Acuras tires dont wear unlike the Germans, and about Acura having pot hole proof suspension

I also have to agree here... I saw it, drove it, Tech V6, and it felt very TSX-ish to me...
I have a 2013 Tech TL, my 4th TL and 5th Acura (wife has a 2012 MDX) and I don't think the TLX will be my next car, I don't see it as an evolution of my current TL... I see it like a 3G TSX, no matter how Acura wants to put it...
Car looks nice, drives nice but I think Acura just killed the TL... Just my very personal opinion...

*shrug*.... I have a hard time believing that you could say it is TSX-ish if you sat in it and drove it. I'm not calling you a liar, just hard to see that comparison. Oh well.. enjoy whatever you choose next
