Retrofit Heated Steering Wheel?
Hi there I think it cannot be retrofited to work with oem parts. I did install the heated steering wheel as an accessory to my 2019 Acura TLX Aspec and what is included in the accessory box is the steering wheel, heat button, harness and clock spring as well. It is I tell you an accessory that you need to have if you live in the areas that get extremely cold. Hope this help.
What actually I did was that I purchase the heated steering wheel kit through Acura Dealer here in Chicago IL than I order just the steering wheel of Acura TLX Aspec PMC edition, since I drive a 2019 Acura TLX Aspec Sh-AWD with red interior so that is why I got the steering wheel of PMC edition because of its red stitch to match my red interior now I have that brand new heated steering wheel lying with me but with no controls though.

The million-dollar question thst I've not seen answered yet is "Do the 2015-2017 US-sold TLX's have the correct wiring, connectors, etc. in place?" I'd pony up the $400 or so for a heated A-Spec wheel kit and make my way through the 15 pages (!) of instructions if I could be 100% confident it would be plug and play, or required only a couple small (known) additions/changes.
Actually I checked at ACURA Warehouse.com that sells genuine acura accessories when I entered 2015 base it only give me wood grain steering wheel (NO HEATED)part # 08U97-TZ3-210 I couldn't see heated steering wheel so that means that car may not have the wiring to do so unless someone knows how to swap that particular accessory like I am now days looking to see if I could swap power folding mirrors from a advance model to my Aspec sh-awd. Hope this help.
Someone on the "other" TLX forum has fitted the 2018 accessory kit to his (2015 I tho k) US TLX. He indicated the need to only run a power and ground separate from the harness. I was hoping to learn more detail, but he seems to have gone quiet. Regardless, it sounds promising. I was thinking of swapping my steering wheel out for an A-Spec version, so just put that money toward a heated kit if in fact, it's as simple as he seemed to indicate.
Heeltoe demonstrates the heated steering wheel upgrade on the Type-S below.
If one (a DIY'er) is patient and applies critical thinking skills while following directions, this does not look too bad; however, if one (not a DIY'er) wonders why the dealer quote is $$$ high, well, now you know why.

The install of the 2018 A-Spec wheel in my 2016 Tech required some ingenuity, but wasn't really too bad. In a 2019, it's plug-and-play, but does require skills and special attention to the directions. I cost myself an extra $100+ and had an interesting drive with the 4-wheel steering out of whack and the dash lit up like a Christmas tree when I had you go to the dealer to correct the clock-spring position and reset the computer. (I really thought it was reinstalled in the correct orientation!)
Still, it's the best mod I've done to the car.
