Rear Diff Replacement On 2018 A-Spec AWD

Have my TLX at the dealer currently for a repeat C1841-27 (Rear diff oil pressure circuit out of range) code and the amber SH-AWD light is on the dash. Have just over 70000 miles currently. They are recommending a complete diff replacement! Anyone else seen this before?

I am not aware of this being a common problem, as far as I know and someone correct me on this, the rear differential on these cars is pretty stout. I would find it questionable that yours needs to be replaced at 70,000 miles…

One question I would have is If the rear fluid has ever been replaced, if so what was the mileage. If the fluid has never been replaced, that could lead to a premature failure of the differential…

I have had it replaced twice, once around 20K and then about 15000 miles ago; whenever the "6" shows up on the maintenance minder.

Just curious what the outcome was, did they dealer give you more specific information on what the failure mode was?

Is the vehicle still under the powertrain warranty? That should cover it.

Okay just got the car back this week after about 1 1/2 weeks in the shop!

Below is the saga I have had with the dealer and this issue that I first reported at 59000 miles:

59862: AWD light on code C1841-27--Test drive and check fluid level. Problem is intermittent, clear codes and see if returns.
62597: Brought back in with same stored code. Dealer replaces both oil pressure sensors. ($317.03<<ACURACARE>>)
70876: Brought back in with same stored code AGAIN. Dealer replaces Differential Sub Harness. ($317.58<<ACURACARE>>)
70961: Light came back on the same day I picked the car up from the dealer! At this point I was somewhat annoyed so I dropped the car back off again and finally they replaced the "Carrier Assy" "41200-5MO-000" (I assume this means the entire diff?) along with new fluid for a total of ($3889.99<<ACURACARE>>) Took a while because I guess corporate sent an inspector before authorizing the warranty claim? Invoice notes state internal oil pump failure as root cause.

Have put a couple hundred miles on and the light has not returned so I think the problem is gone for now. Glad I purchased Acura Care for 120000 miles in case any other expensive issues come up in the future. Also happy that my service guy Juan from Kearny Mesa Acura took care of me with no pushback at all.

I will report back if this happens to come back in the future.

Anyone else seen a similar issue on their TLX?
