Proximity sensor issues
Proximity sensor issues
So I have a new to me 2018 Acura TLX A Spec and the two front proximity sensors show an object erroneously quite often. It stays on to where I have to turn the system off. I bought two new sensors to replace them as they have some rock chips. I replaced the two sensors, and now I get a proximity system problem message on the gauge cluster. I have done the Honda/Acura reset procedure several times but the problem still persists. I put the old sensors back in and the problem message goes out and the system works properly. What am I missing in terms of configuring these new sensors?
Looking at the replacement procedures over on ALLDATA diy, it looks like you need to reset the sensor control unit after you replace these sensors. Hopefully this works for you.
1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
2. Press the parking and back-up sensor switch 10 times, within 10 seconds.
NOTE: Parking and back-up sensor switch indicator blinks.
3. Turn the vehicle to the OFF (LOCK) mode.
4. Press and hold the parking and back-up sensor switch.
5. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
6. Wait about 10 seconds.
NOTE: When resetting the parking and back-up sensor control unit complete successfully, the buzzer sounds for 2 seconds.
7. Press the parking and back-up sensor switch.
8. Make sure that the system works normally.
