No Heated Steering Wheel???
My father (a long time Acura fanatic who owned an Acura every year from 1987 through 2008) and I walked out of the dealership very disappointed that you can not option the new TLX with a heated steering wheel. This is a must have here in the Great Lakes region. This basically made the car a "no buy" from the both of us and we will be sticking with BMW.
Am I right that Acura is the only luxury maker that does not offer a heated steering wheel? Even a Hyundai Sonata offers this as an option!

I can see where you're coming from, but I think having a heated steering wheel is more of a luxury than a necessity. Your father is a long time Acura owner ('87-2008), so if it wasn't a problem then, why now? Seems like he did just fine in the frigid temps without one.

If that one item precludes your father from owning a car from a brand he's been loyal to, then that's too bad.
I'd suggest letting Acura know it should be part of the Advanced package.

I see your point but you could say the same thing about many things, like a rear view camera. Didn't offer them back then either. Now my father and I won't by a car without one. Same thing after having a heated steering wheel in frigid Wisconsin and Illinois (a cheap option on other brands by the way), we will never go back. Just like other things in life, like heated seats, power windows, Nav, backup camera, etc., many people never go back.
If they don't want to offer it as an option, so be it. They will lose business up here though especially when every single one of their competitors offers it.

Let Acura know. Perhaps one day they will offer a winter package.
Overall though, a good leather wrapped steering wheel moderates heat and cold well enough for me. When I drove older cars with plastic / polyurethane steering wheels, they got very cold (or hot) and I wore fingerless driving gloves in winter. Made me look like a boy racer when I didn't want to be.

It wasn't a problem then because you could only get heated steering wheels in high end Mercedes. Now every luxury maker offers them, some standard. Except Acura I guess.

The Canadian Spec TLX have heated steering wheel, heated windshield, heated rear seats, low washer fluid warning light, and headlamp washer. Come buy one here.
The irony is that Acura will sell way more TLX in the snow region of the US than the whole Canadian market. They obviously decided that the potential increase in sales/revenue does not justify the complexity and additional logistical cost of adding a winter package.

Don't forget the power folding mirrors and windshield washer tank is more than twice capacity of US model. Acura needs to offer cold package in colder states. Many would pay extra to have these options in car. There's nothing worse running out of washer fluid after it's just snowed and suns out!
Given that the engineering, production capability and suppliers are all there. The fact that US TLX don't get these features even as an option is probably a decision made by corporate bean counters.
If that is the philosophy driving the development of this car, then I have wonder if the bean counters also made decisions on area of the car under the skin that might affect the car years down the road. Certainly does not inspire a lot of confidence.
Having said that, the TLX does seem to be a very good value proposition.

Power mirrors and heated steering wheel would be great.....

Really dislike the fact there are no power folding mirrors here in the US. Living in the south, I couldn't careless about a heated steering wheel. However I can definitely see why it would be great for those winter months up north.

Heated wheel should at least be on US spec advance cars. It feels so nice during cold winter mornings, and is it just me, but if your not going to make a "real wood" stealing wheel don't bother. You can go buy one of those plastics steering wheel covers with the foe wood look at autozone for like 20$.

Man, that's tough. Acura ignores the biggest market, and when given opportunities to make a strong impression, again fails to deliver on the small things that matter to luxury car buyers.
In contrast, Lexus offers it on IS - available on AWD only, which makes sense. BMW charges you for it, but it's available across all models.

I think it's stupid on Acura's part to not offer heated steering wheel as an option in the US, they offer the 'wood' trim steering wheel but not the heated steering wheel. They wouldn't even have to have an additional part to build because they're already used in the Canada versions of the TLX. It makes me wonder if there's any way we can get one from Canada and have it installed in the US. Would that impact the factory warranty?

I live in the midwest and have to this day never used my heated seats in any of my vehicles, nor would i use a heated steering wheel. I would however like a chilled/cooled steering wheel. Spending 8+hours a day in the car with your hands on the wheel in the hot sun it would be nice to have a chilled wheel.

Irritating they are not offering these features in the USA. My A6 has most of these features (decidedly more expensive though). Nevertheless, when I got my TSX, in Canada you could get rain sensing wipers, rear sunshade, etc.

i brought it up to Mike A, and a couple of the Engineers at the Acura driving event i went to back in 2011 when i got to drive the 4Gmmc before the media. They said it wasnt the first time they had a request for it.
