Having been starving for an 8 speed DCT for several years, as I was stuck in a TSX with good, but old technology. Some people on here complain of hard shifting, I can see where one may think that if they don't drive the car as it is meant to be driven, it does require throttle contol to smooth it out, but once you and the car become 1, it is like driving a, if you let the clutch out to quick it gets a bit jerky, same with the 8 speed dual clutch. I LOVE how it shifts though, super smooth and fast. It truly makes the car fun to drive despite being a 4cyl. My TLX is way faster than my TSX was and I currently am on 20" wheels.

For the money Acura charges for this car, it is BY FAR the best value on the road. Considering all its competitors list for higher amounts and most aren't as nice, with the exception of Lexus.

Just had to chime in as I don't want people to get the wrong impression who don't own the car, yet. Go test drive one and drive it aggressively, you will appreciate what I am talking about. It is also whisper smooth and quiet when driving slow, it also sips gas.

How come you didn't mention the stereo you seem to hate on the other thread ?

Glad you enjoy the car I have out 2500 + miles on a tlx. No tranny issues to report

And with recent report of people paying 27k for base and 30k for tech, it's a good value

That said their tech(rear camera) severely bothers me. If Toyota and Lexus can do it better at same and lower price points acura has no excuse

I just drove a newer Prius as a loaner and found no appreciable difference in the camera compared to my TLX. As for Lexus, it's hardly a "same" price point. For me it does what it needs to do, and I am not taking pictures with it. Combined with the EXCELLENT Cross Traffic Monitoring System, the less than perfect camera is a non-issue, at least for those with the Tech and up package.

Hopefully they will either upgrade the camera or include the CTMS with all trims. Either way, cost goes up.

Prius and tlx aren't competitors

Our ct which is cheaper than a tlx and our ls much more expensive than a tlx both have the same camera

It is iPhone 6 level

I don't need to take a picture with it but for me safety and seeing behind me is important

Tlx is a great car but with all the complaints on this forum mdx forum obviously camera bothers people including me

I'm in the camp of not being bothered by the crappy camera as it's a secondary option. I always rely on my rear view mirror and side mirrors.

8 DCT is indeed great with up shifts but sudden downshifts is rather disappointing.

I agree i like my transmission. this is my first automatic car i've only driven 5/6spds so there was a learning curve to this trans that i think people are confusing with it being harsh. it's not a typical automatic trans, if you've ever had the opportunity to drive a porsche or a bmw with a DCT it's not a smooth transmission.

F80 M3's DCT is damn smooth and pretty damn fast.

I forgot to mention that I don't like that it doesn't let you bounce off the redline...lol

I mentioned Prius as you referenced Toyota doing it better. I realize that the TLX and a Prius are not competitors. My point is that the camera, while certainly not top of the line, is not a safety issue. It's a cosmetic issue at best, IMHO. It is more than clear enough during daylight, and while I may not recognize faces at night, it is adequate. Would i like a better night time picture - yes. Would I call it a safety issue - no. IMHO, that is an overstatement of the concern.

That's a good point about the transmission and getting to know it. Then you don't need to think about it. As autos go it is one of the nicest I have tried. I still prefer manuals.

The camera isn't a big issue. But just a mystery as every Honda right down to the humble Fit has a far better one.

Stereo is a different category than transmission, NO? I like the tranny and hate the cheap crap stereo, my TSX was far better stereo wise.
