Maximum speed/gear on 8spd DCT??

I know we're all waiting on official 0-60 times, braking and lateral G measurements, but has anyone with the DCT noted what the maximum speeds for each gear are? Also curious how close to redline it will put you on a manual downshift. Thanks

Well assuming my gear calculations are correct, you can see a theoretical 250mph for the 4cyl/8DCT and 317mph for the 6cyl/9spd.

And when you look at the numbers below, you'll start to see why the 9spd almost never ends up in 9th gear.

4cyl
Tire = 225/55-17 (26.74" diameter)
Redline (indicated on dash) = 6900rpm
Final Drive = 4.57

Gear Ratio (speed)
1st: 3.08 (39mph)
2nd: 2.18 (55mph)
3rd: 1.61 (75mph)
4th: 1.22 (98mph)
5th: .96 (125mph)
6th: .74 (162mph)
7th: .62 (194mph)
8th: .48 (250mph)

6cyl
Tire = 225/50-18 (26.86" diameter)
Redline (indicated on dash) = 6700rpm
Final Drive = 3.52

Gear Ratio (speed)
1st: 4.71 (32mph)
2nd: 2.84 (54mph)
3rd: 1.91 (80mph)
4th: 1.38 (110mph)
5th: 1.0 (152mph)
6th: .81 (206mph)
7th: .70 (217mph)
8th: .58 (262mph)
9th: .48 (317mph)

Having 8 or 9 speeds has little to do w/ top speed, but has everything to do with being able to provide the best gearing to provide the best MPG for any given reasonable speed.

Thank you! I knew there was a way to calculate this but never tried. I had expected with 8 speeds that these lower gear ratios would be closer and the max speeds per each gear lower at least through the first few with only the last gears aimed at dropping revs for highway mpg. Perhaps this is why people are saying the 0-60 times are terrible.

Am surprised that the V6 has more gear in 1st than the I4.

without limiters max speed in the 2.4 would be in 6th and in the 3.5 in 5th. So the former as 2 effective overdrives, the latter has actually 4....

Thought the DCT was a nine speed.
So I googled it and good old Wiki has a blurb on the car. Noted they say that Honda figures the 4 cyl.TLX "should be" 1.5 sec faster than the tsx?
Hmmm

I'm guessing they mean faster than the automatic- not sure what those numbers are. My 04 6-speed is 7.3 sec if I recall and if the TLX were 1.5 faster than that I'd be all about it!
