Lower Screen Settings, fade timer

Thank you all for the information you are sharing with new TLX owners. It's very helpful to hear the experiences of other owners to learn about all the features of this car.

I haven't heard this discussed yet. Has anyone changed the lower screen fade timer with successful results? This setting is on the third page of "screen settings", accessed by pressing more.../screen settings/then scroll to page three. I believe the default setting is "never". The page offers three timed settings, 30s/60s/120s. I have tried all three with no success. Does this timed setting work in your car?

Thanks

I think I experienced exact same thing. I changed it to 30sec. It didn't take affect immediately. It kept the screen on full brightness. Next time I started the car, I went back and noticed it is back on "Always". I moved it to 30sec again. It worked this time. Not sure what was the trick! I recommend shutting down and restarting the engine. check the setting again. if it is on your desired number, it should work.

I had no idea you could even do this. Will have to check it out later this evening!

I tried this and it worked for me. However, I seem to recall that under certain circumstances the screen wouldn't dim.

I think a lower light level is required, and maybe the headlights have to be on.

So far, the only way I can predictable fade the lower screen is to select one of the three timed options, then select "Audio" on the upper screen. The lower screen will then fade out. I will have to try the headlight scenario soon to see if that may help.

Thanks for the replies

It's not necessary for Audio to be on top screen. I have navigation there and bottom audio screen fades for me.

I can report that Auto Screen fade works fine for me as well. I didn't actually have to set it up, so perhaps it defaults to a fade or the dealership did it at some point? In any event, it works

Thanks for the replies. The lower screen fades as advertised only at night for my car. Driving during the daytime, even with the headlights turned on the screen will not fade.
Oh well, not a deal breaker.
