But I do enjoy the fact he created a thread to say his mind MAY have been changed and he posted up a generic photo that is in other places throughout AZ.

And he's been considering a TLX since he joined in 2014 and still hasn't bought (apparently)

TacoBello, I've been a member here for many years. I forgot my credentials to my old account and was not able to recover it. I currently have a TL-S and have been looking to add a TLX to the family. Like others here, I am just waiting for the 2nd year TLX's. What I am saying is that I've never considered the Accord along with other competitors of the TLX (3 series, Q50, IS250, etc), but now I am. I will probably still end up getting a TLX, just hoping for exposed exhaust pipes on the 2016's

My wife likes the new 2016 Accord but we are both pissed that the mirano red color is only available in the base model Sport trim. Honda/Acura and their lack of any color other than some versions of grey, white or black annoys me.

First drive. So the Accord touring gets 19s, base TLX 17s, and top of the line TLX 18s. The Accord touring is getting the amplitude reactive dampers and it is quieter for 2016.

Well - at least the touring model won't ride like an ox cart anymore

Plus they get Apple car-play - I wonder if Acura will make that available as a software update for us Acura losers at some point...

I have a TL-S too (2007 6MT). For me the Accord and TLX don't compete because the TLX is more planted, refined, and has much lower levels of NVH. The journalists who have first driven the 2016 Accord haven't lavished praise about NVH like they have with the TLX, so I'm guessing it's only slightly better than the 2015s.

For me, that's kind of a big seller. It won't be for everyone. Waiting on the 2016's as well, but I like the 2015 as-is for the most part. I just want to see if there's new colour combos available.

I'm with you OP on the '16 Accord. Still driving my '12 TL Advance and have planned to eventually replace it with a TLX Advance but the '16 Accord Touring has definitely grabbed my attention. I think the biggest thing I'd miss from my TL would be the Blind Spot Monitoring. I know the Accord has the right side camera but I prefer Acura's set up on both sides. I'm still a year away though so I've still got time to consider. I am impressed that the Accord Touring will have heated rear seats, unlike the current TLX in any trim level.

Accord touring comes with a spare tire too. It looks like Acura is doing more cost cutting than the stepchild.

I think the TLX is better looking and the badge is very important. I really want something with stronger image than Honda. But the Accord is making it difficult to justify. It is closer to a home run than the TLX is.

Gotta admit that the 2016 Accord is looking really good. V6 Coupe with 6 speed manual touring edition. Comes with all the safety features, exhaust tips and some nice looking wheels.

It is fascinating how different the models look. They should have gone with the coupe front end for both.

I agree. I think the accord coupes have always looked way better than the sedans.

Coupe: I prefer the front end of the sedan to the coupe, but do not like front or back design, too many sharp angles and edges. And whats up with the fake air intake looks on the rear.

For both, especially the sedan, eliminate the exhaust tips as they look out of place. If they must be there then integrate them into the lower bumper or something like the 3G TL.

Interior looks ok, but the design of the TLX's steering wheel is hard to beat. They should make it the standard.

Probably most TLX shoppers will be attracted to the V6 Touring. I think it is a great car too. But I suspect Honda won't make many of them. So they may be hard to get in the color choice you want. Still, it is a very attractive package. I'm really hoping Acura gets CarPlay and Android Auto in the 2016 TLX.

i was thinking about the '16 Accord too, but i'd still pick TLX over the refreshed Accord, especially if base TLX for '16 model comes with Apple CarPlay. the things you may miss out while getting the refreshed Accord are:

1. this is merely a MMC, not a new generation, so expect a complete new Accord from ground up within next 2 calendar years, while TLX just one year into its life cycle

2. lose out on the extra warranty and dealer services comes with purchasing an Acura: free loaner car, way better dealer experience, etc

3. related to no. 1, Accord V6's powertrain is still ancient, not a true DI V6, basically the same as Gen 8 Accord V6. I4 on the Accord is similar if not exactly the same as TLX's I4, but i'm not a big fan of CVT, 8 speed DCT in TLX is way more sophisticated and advanced.

adding no. 4 - build quality on the TLX is way better than the gen 9 Accord. i've seen a ton of complaints on driveaccord.net forum about the thin paint and cheap material

Way better dealership experience. Not true. Depends on where you are located. I've seen many complaints about the TLX..

I would take 9th gen Accord over a TLX anyday..... No, I'm not biased

Hmmm…a thread comparing the Accord to the TLX….what a novel idea. I suggest we create a whole Forum for this, so as to avoid cluttering up the Acura forum. Let me sum up…Accord good car…..TLX better, more luxurious, costs more…etc. New cars get latest technology, other cars catch up…..Now, off to see if I can find a Camry - TLX comparison thread, or maybe an Altima/Maxima/TLX thread….or a Ford Focus/BMW 320 thread….or I may just sticks pins in my eyes

I don't recall seeing so many comparisons between the 4G and Accord. For some reason, this version has really brought the comparisons out. Most anyone that has actually driven both 4cyl Accord and 4cyl TLX and comparable V6 models should easily see the differences.

There are so many of these, you are right, the mods could create a subforum and it'd fill up.

There's nothing new going on here....the Accord has been compared to its Acura counterpart since the 80's. Until Honda takes substantial steps in differentiating Acura, these comparisons will continue to happen now and in the future.

IMHO, there has been and most likely- always will be- enough justification for me to spend the extra money on an Acura over a Honda.

This.

Acura is just Honda+. That's why the comparisons happen.

Yes, some will want to pay extra for the few nicer features offered on the TLX. Oh, and the very important badge.

Example:

I wouldn't even call Acura as being Honda+.

I'd call Acura as being Honda=.

Or save even more money and buy a Civic. On paper the Accord has a nice list of features, the TLX likewise. But the cars are different. A buyer needs to drive each and experience each. The value that makes the TLX more expensive is partly the content and partly intrinsic. If a buyer thinks these are worth it, they buy the TLX, if not the Accord. But it is not just about comparing a list of features and the MSRP. There is an intrinsic value to the Acura, if a buyer doesn't appreciate it there are cheaper options.
