But can use the remote start fob by itself?
Does it also work like the Smart key, do you also have to carry the original Smart key fob?
I love heated steering wheel. I was using it last night and it was only 9c. 48F

Yes, if you add the "Remote Start" accessory- you use the remote start fob only by itself. You no longer need to carry the original fob, as all previous functions are duplicated on the new fob.Originally Posted by ELation

The only drawback is that the Remote Start fob is about 20% longer in size (to accomodate the engine starter button and indicator LED's) than the original fob (which is already thicker and bigger than the 4G Acura fobs)- so it's a lot "more" to carry in your pocket!
But the remote range is very impressive (you can start the car from a distance greater than a football field... I actually tried that!)

Ya, it's quite heavy. I have a Lioncon with the remote start function and the keyfob weighs no more than regular key fobs.

After doing some serious research, I just think this is not an easy DIY project. Today I visited a Canadian Acura dealership and talked to a technician at the Parts dept. The (Elite) mirror assembly costs $570 each. You will also need to replace a couple of wire harness and the driver's side door control. With tax and shipping I figured that's going to be at least $1500...

Its cool looking but the folding only saves maybe 2" on each side. Not worth the cost.

The power folding mirrors option is common with other manufacturers as well. for example, Merc CLA Canada version has them, but its not even an option in the US models. same thing with heated steering.
Folding mirror might be a safety regulation thing in the US. lot of companies want to get rid of mirrors and replace with cameras but still cant do so.

Yes, we in Canada have a number of extras, but many of us would trade them in for some of the prices and lease rates that are available in various US locations. Normally, we pay more and get less, so at least Acura has levelled the playing field a little. Anyhow, i'm off to play with my folding mirrors, sit in my heated back seat, and lock and unlock the car using all four doors

Side note, I parked next to a Kia small SUV that had power folding mirrors! So annoying that my $45,000 car does not have it even though the Canadian version does. Ugh.

Not many cars out there have that feature, yet. It should at least be an option.Originally Posted by spoiler900

Advanced
not to rub it in but that was one of the things that drew me to my I4 tech canadian model, was the amount of features the car had.
then i learned that the US model didn't come with the heated steering wheel, heated back seats, heated windshield, folding mirrors, remote start etc and thought...that must suck for you guys lol

A little bit off topic, but I've found that manually folding the mirrors on the US version is rather difficult. I thought I was about to break them a few times, so I mentioned it to the dealer. The service associate tried and thought she was about to break it too, so she had one of the technicians do it with additional force. She told me to pretty much expect a service bulletin on it in the future..
I would have liked power mirrors, too :-/
Anyone else have the same issue with the US version?

I felt the same way, pushed my mirrors in once to see how it looked and got scared I was going to break them! Also, a bit dissapointed I feel like they dont quite twist 90 degrees so doesnt even look THAT cool to fold them in. But yes seems kinda sketchy. Wonder if anyone has broken them yet.

Mine loosened up with time, and I fold the driver's side routinely .
