First Press Release of 2018 TLX MMC

It's beyond me why they don't design plug-n-play tablets that you simply plug in to a wiring harness - they could sell tablet upgrades to existing cars. I'll bet those would sell well if the upgrade is substantial.

And heck if I had a 3yr old car, and they sold a tablet upgrade to incorporate the latest stuff like Carplay/Android Auto for less than 500$ i'd certainly shell out cash for it, and I'm the type that never gives dealers any money for accessories after the initial purchase of the car.

I've a G37, and test drove a RedSport 400 when I was considering trading in my e39 M5 and G37.
RedSport makes a lot of power, but what kills it for me is the transmission. It's the same 7AT transmission that's been in the G37 since 2010, with some software tweaks.
It's simply not good enough, and not even in the same universe with the e39 M5 that's 17 years older. It feels numb, and disconnected, with a lot of power.
I ended up getting 2017 TLX 4cyl, and only because of.....wait for it, the transmission. It's plain, and simple, and does the job. I also can't complain about the fuel mileage.
The new 2018 TLX A-Spec looks much better than the previous generation. It is a bit of a bummer it doesn't get a more powerful power plant.

Holy shit, so far the red TLX and blue TLX look great. The white... Not so much.
seems a bit odd, as cars generally look their best in white. The blue TLX looks pretty sharp though. Just needs to be lowered a la aftermarket coilovers and it'll look badass.
Maybe Acura is heading in the right direction.
I, for the most part, don't like blue cars. I know I'm in the minority on this, but I dunno... Lots of blues out there I don't like. This color looks badass.

i actually like the new grill u till you get close up. At least on the MDX the silve A is flat it the clear plastic background. There is no depth to the A thus making it look cheap. The A should be substantial and have depth and should sit above the background. How does Acura alway do a half assed step forward.

so in theory this should put up better numbers with the tire and suspension upgrades right? Wasnt the claim shortly after the TLX arrived that putting better tires on it magically made it just as fun to drive as the 4G? Isnt there a camry with over 300hp now?

So I hooked up with a buddy for lunch today that just picked up a 13 TL Rch and as soon as I got in it I realized how good the 4G was built. The car has 40K miles on it, but felt tighter than my TLX with 13K miles. Also I immediately heard how much better the 4G ELS sounded than the TLX ELS, more detail, depth and bass. I hated going back to my TLX. If they had not ruined the 4G with the beak it was a really nice car. Makes me hate that I stil have 17 more mores in this dumpy TLX.
I will say that I am impressed with how much Acura added to the MMC TLX which tells you they feel the heat big time from all the competitors, but unfortunately my TLX has ruined me with Acura. Every day I drive it I realize how badly I want out.

LOL Keith - there were several of us 4G owners that tried to warn everyone the TLX was a huge step down, but I think Acura's marketing fooled people into stopping by the stealership and that new car aura swallows like a Vegas escort

I think the styling of the TLX helped get people interested, but they clearly hedged by cutting back on materials quality so,they could load in more content at attractive price point. I have said this before, the TLX is in between the 3G and 4G in build quality and materials.

I gotta say, I think they did really well with the new front/rear fascia design, the car is finally starting to look like it has a cohesive and consistent design all the way through down to the smallest details. It looks like they finally put some real work into the design giving it a higher quality and crafted look to it. Not the old "designed by committee" crap we were seeing for soo long.
I can't wait to see this thing in black, graphite, or silver.
I agree with Keith though on the front Acura logo. It should have been open-faced with depth to it, and not a symbol hidden behind a flat piece of plastic/glass. That gives it a real cheap look-n-feel. Hopefully they'll iterate on it.
My problem still stands with the interior, I just can't do the dashboard design, it's dumpy looking. The mismatched vertical vents and the big dome over the top LCD screen just distract from what's otherwise a very sleek, modern futuristic interior design. And as Keith also mentioned, the interior grade of materials used is several notches down from you should be getting with a sports luxury sedan. Just feel the glove compartment door. It's a joke how flimsy it is. Small detail, but speaks to the cost-cutting that should not have happened in a car of this class.

Don't really know have not looked into it, the 2018 440 does not - bummer. My Expedition has cooled seats, very much worth it in NC during a good chunk of the year. I would buy them on any car that has them available..

I think they're pretty much reserved for the top trim. I kind of wish I had them in Texas, but the heated is still more important in my book.

The Advanced trim on the RLX has it. And was one of the few things that worked very well. Definitely helped during summer time and even during moderate temps, it just left you feeling more refreshed after sitting and driving for any amount of time. I never bothered to check the service docs to see if it was actually pumping cool air from the HVAC or just recirculating cabin air, but it always felt cool to me.

He's also comparing the TLX to a 12 year old, overall lower model car. I sure hope the TLX is better!

I'm carefully optimistic simply because I don't think that's new hardware in there
Historically, however, I don't think Honda has cared about current customers enough to release a software update... that I'm aware of. Please someone correct me on the matter.

I see exhaust tips
That's all it matters to me hhahaha.
In all honesty, I like the refreshed. Asides from the exterior, the ASpec package along with some other interior upgrades will help with the sale. I think they gonna sell more of these than the last 3 years.
Still not enough to trade my perfectly fine and paid off TL in for a TLX, But in 2, 3 years, I might.
This segment is crazy. I love competition.
