I'm looking for help from any Advance owner in the US and any Canadian owner with power folding mirrors.
Yes, I know there have been threads on this but nobody has done it. I'm going to do it and I will share what I find. But I do need some help from you guys.
I would love to get a picture of your under hood fuse boxes and if there's a power folding mirror fuse in the interior fuse box, please post that as well. I'm especially looking for relays under the hood but it may be fused separately as well.
So far I have ordered 1 power folding mirror (Adv, not Canadian) and the proper ADV Mirror Switch. There is some different information on what else is required. Partially due to conflicting Canadian door harness part numbers and probably due to general not-knowing-yet.
Since I'm already $600 into this project, I won't stop until it's done. I will order the other mirror and probably the mirror sub-harness to compare it. I've asked Acura Parts to compare them visually but got no replies so far.
Things I've read we may need:
Adv/Canadian PF mirrors ($450 each)
PFM switch ($36)
Main window switches for both doors ($130 each)
MIrror sub-harness - both sides *
Door harness - both sides *
* Conflicting part numbers for base vs tech/A-Spec vs adv vs Canadian
I will continue to collect and compare part numbers as I go along and will make a separate thread for the project when I have more parts and more information verified.
For now, I'm interested in finding out if they're relay'd under the hood or it's something built into the mirror or somewhere else.
Thanks in advance for help.
For reference, I'm working on a 2019 V6 AWD A-Spec. I know that we will eventually have to figure out if the dealer can flash our tech to have the Adv mirror controls or how that will work. First things first tho, I want to get them functional with the OEM button, using all OEM parts.

Man you will be my Hero I drive 2019 Acura TLX Aspec and am willing to do this but need concrete information about someone who has done it and it does work. My Acura dealer in my town in USA mentioned that the computer that controls the power windows is same in Tech, Aspec and Advance models the difference is the wiring. Kindly keep me in the loop and let me know how it goes would greatly appreciate it. Thanks a bunch in advance.

Unless I die, I will not let you down. If I do let you down, it will be with additional info at least. 🤣
I ordered the driver sub-harness and driver door harness. Those should be in this week. I will be ordering some additional parts this week or next. I'm knocking out the driver side first because it's more expensive. Actually, I'll include a list of part numbers my research has led to.
*these part numbers are individual to your car's color which is why I left the full description above. Your paint code (NH883P for me) is inside the driver door on the sticker.
Power Folding Mirror Switch: 35190-TX4-H21 - ADV - $36.84
Mirror sub-harnesses: 32758-TZ3-A10 - ADV - $43.42 driver side 32759-TZ3-A10 - ADV - $36.07 pass side
Door harnesses: 32751-TZ3-A22 - ADV - $61.29 driver side 32752-TZ3-A22 - ADV - $49.81 pass side
Door Switches Main: 35750-TZ3-C11 - ADV - $134.63 driver side 35760-TZ3-C11 - ADV - $107.05 pass side
I will make a thread for this when I have all of the parts in hand. I will compare fuses and relays thanks to guy above and report back if I think we need anything there.
It's such an expensive test, I won't give up without success. Hopefully it turns out good and easy for all of us.

See this is what I know about but was not sure if it will work you have the same car that I have 2019 Acura TLX Aspec Sh-AWD. Some said these parts that you mentioned and some said there should be main wiring harness both driver and passenger side. So this will be real big help for me to do the swap. Am really looking forward to this. Thanks again.

I picked up a couple more parts today. They should be here next week. I can't edit the previous post anymore but I'll keep it updated in here until I have everything in hand and make a DIY at that time. For now, I'll keep it contained in this thread.
I noticed the prices are going up on some of these items. There's a different Acura parts supplier online that has slightly lower prices but I've had good luck with oemacuraparts and they're local to me if I need to go exchange something or pick something up. Exchange and pick-up options are something to consider if any of you have an Acura dealership nearby and will price match other dealers or has an online store

Hello My friend any updates on that power folding mirror swap? You do not know how much I appreciate it when it is done and I will be ordering the parts as well. Thanks in advance.

Not yet. I'm still missing 2 parts. My wife is beginning to wonder why I'm stacking Honda boxes in our bedroom. I plan to order the other parts soon™. The passenger mirror will be the last thing I order. Acura delayed my last order by several days and split the order up as though they were missing one of the parts but I did receive them (just Tuesday 10/26 in fact). I will keep going forward until it works

Sorry my friend to bug you again any updates? Thanks

Not yet. We are getting there. I just ordered the other mirror. I'm going to try to pick up the passenger side switch in person. I need to take the TLX in for some weird electronic parking brake error that keeps coming up. While I'm there, I'll see about grabbing the switch. Then comes the fun part of connecting everything and seeing if it works or doesn't work. I will compare the fuse boxes today
Unless I missed something, the fuse boxes are identical. All fuses, relays and values. This would suggest that everything is controlled within the mirrors, main door/window switches and the PFM switch. Let's hope that's the case.
For any future googlers, this is comparing a Canadian Elite with PFM to a US A-Spec (V6 AWD) without PFM

hello my friend few months back I spoke with my Acura dealer and the parts manager confirmed that the computers the control the side mirrors are identically same in Tech, Aspec and Advance trims meaning the difference is the wiring only and gadgets through which the actual functionality flows such as what you described wire harness sub wire harness main window switches mirror switches etc. I strongly believe you are on the right track it is just the matter of time. The only think my Acura dealer was not sure the feature that when you turn off the car than will the mirrors will fold or not. But will fi d out. Man I am really excited and can't wait to see the end results good luck to you and thanks a bunch.☺

I'm excited too. The dealerships I talked to didn't know as much as yours. One kept telling me they don't have access to Canadian info. I only referenced that the Canadian Elite model had them, not that I needed help with that particularly. He got stuck on that train of thought and wouldn't understand anything else I asked.
The other confirmed a few part numbers for me as they were listed wrong on some sites and some sites don't differentiate between adv and non. I was cross referencing all of the part numbers on a different site that does differentiate the years and model trims properly.(https://www.acurapartswarehouse.com)
I did notice the new adv mirror seems to not be gloss black on the mount triangle. I'm not yet sure if I will gloss it or leave it be. I do hope your dealership info is accurate. I read something about the entertainment console being able to control mirror function. I'm not sure if that is true, is something that will automatically detect and be available, is something we can have flashed, or if it's just something we will have to live without.
I'm very excited to get this project started and eventually finished. I'm surprised nobody has done it with a write up but I'm happy to be helping the cause.

Well the entertainment console is the fact that does have the feature if you would like to automatically fold mirror when you switch off the engine or you could disable that feature through the entertainment console and plus than advance has the 360 camera feature as well. My dealer parts manager is a very young kit but has some wealth of knowledge about not only the parts but its features as well. Now about the mirrors yes all from 18 till 20 tech, aspec and advance will have gloss black because advance came in same colors as tech and aspec so you shouldn't have any issue there. Yeah some dealer which to my surprise does not know anything if you need to buy some thing different than your trim they are lost and confused. I don't know but my gutt tells me it can be done because there is a very little difference between an Aspec and Advance trim one is the power folding mirrors, second is heated windshield the edges where wiper sits, third is 360 camera and lastly the heated rear seats and that is it so for that they are not going to change the whole wiring harness etc but will have those added features connections. I know it is an expensive swap as the cars are too new but I am positive it can be done. Thanks again.

And the remote start. I added that already. I don't need heated rear seats. Where I live is hot. I wish they made an Adv+A-Spec package more often. I used the PMC trim to get some part numbers for cross referencing. However, most sites won't even list the PMC trim because of the rarity. I would say some of the sites will get it sorted out but I don't think they will. Some of the data is missing or wrong and has been for a few years already.

True see when I bought my 2019 TLX Aspec Sh-AWD PMC came after few months later other wise I would have pull the plug on that but am very happy with mine. I did too the genuine remote start, illuminated door sills (Aspec), Heated steering wheel, Black out emblems genuine. Black 19" genuine wheels, Black exterior door handles, Black rear exhaust tips (from PMC). Now I wanted this feature to be on my car but am waiting at least I have hope now since you started it. LOL.
I am discreetly following this thread. I can confirm that you can control if the PFM folds in when you lock and folds out when you unlock at the infotainment screen.

Correct see this is the part where dealership is also blind not know for sure but I know we know more about Acura than the dealer lol. Let's hope for the best and our friend here succeed doing this mod. ☺

Don't give up on me. I got covid Friday so that's gonna slow down everything. The mirror is already in the mail but the switch I wanted to pick up in person is gonna have to wait. I don't wanna bring my covid cooties to the dealership.

Today the passenger mirror arrived. It has a camera underneath. The driver side does not. I'm not sure if this is normal or if both sides should have cameras or if there's a part number issue or ?
My Elite A-Spec has cameras underneath for both mirrors.
thanks for this info
Upon closer inspection, the driver side mirror is the wrong mirror. It's not even the right white color. I'm going to attempt to swap it at the Acura dealer (they're local to me but this might be a problem since I've been sitting on it for a couple months and just now compared it).
I'm hopeful they will swap me the right part. I will keep you guys updated. When I go to exchange the part, I will grab the final switch and begin the process soon.
I took the wrong mirror back to Acura. They did some research and found my mirror.
Apparently their body shop ordered a white mirror the same day and they mixed them up. They ran over to their body shop who still had my mirror and all is well.
(Although whoever has had their car in the body shop for 2+ months is probably pissed)
While I was there, I tried to get the remaining switch but they had to order it. It should arrive in a week or so they said. Then I'll have everything on my parts list and we can continue on.
I can now confirm both US Advance side mirrors have cameras underneath

Yes you are correct as Advance has 360 Camera View and for that they need cameras in both side rearview mirrors also besides the front one which is under the main grille logo.

Thanks. I'm feeling better. I haven't started yet. I'm waiting for the dealership to get the last switch in. I already ordered and paid for it, it should be in sometime this week

Not the reply you're hoping for yet...
I got the call from Acura, my final part has arrived and is ready for pickup. I will try to get there Monday. The holidays will be busy but I will be trying to get time to start. I may end up doing one door tomorrow if I can get the energy. I have everything for the driver side on hand. If I do start, I will take pictures and remember notes along the way. I may order a new panel pry tool tonight.
I've already watched a video for removing the door panels. I want to avoid breaking any clips or anything else for that matter.
Hopefully I don't have to buy anything else for this adventure but I'm committed already

I come with bad news. At least for now. The main door plugs are different. Probably from the additional mirror wires. I don't know exactly where that harness runs to. I will do some research and see how much it is. I'm more concerned about the amount of labor it might be. It's deep into the car. In the dash area. If it's the whole dash harness, I might come up with a custom non-oem way to use the mirrors. I haven't pulled a dash in over a decade and hoped to keep it that way. I'll see what I can find out.
For other news, removing the panel is pretty easy. Getting thru the glue for the sound deadening foam inside the door was also reasonably easy. I put it back to original and everything still works. Hopefully the door plugs are not the entire dash harness but I have a feeling it will be 2019 Acura TLX A-SPEC USA vs 2019 Acura TLX Advance Door Plug Harness differences

Way back I saw a thread that someone was planning to do this swap and he mentioned all the parts that you mentioned but additionally he mentioned the main wiring harness driver side and passenger side as well when I ask my acura dealer he told me that it is the major change and to change that all the seats and carpet needs to come out. I do not know how much truth is in there but wanted to bring it up. So that means that the sub wiring harness also need to be attached to the main driver side and passenger side harness as well (so that main wiring harness needs to be changed as well) in order power folding mirrors to work. Let's see what else you find out.
If there ever was an award for "The Best Article and/or Challenge Addressed" you certainly would be on the top step of the podium. We're all pulling for you and anxiously awaiting the next installment of your trials. Keep at it. You WILL make it happen!!
I think the most cost effective route from here is to get a relay. I wanted to avoid this but it doesn't make sense if I need to swap all of the interior wiring also. The inside fuseboxes do have different part numbers for adv vs tech. I would hate to buy all of the interior harnesses (R side and L side and potentially dash), take my seats and carpet out, swap everything in and find out I need the adv fuse box too. At that point I'd be another $2k+ into this and that doesn't make sense. Each Side harness is $250-ish depending on the site ordered from. The dash harness is $500-ish and the fusebox is a few hundred more.
I think the plan will be to compare the existing wiring to the advance, find out which pins are added. Enumerate them. Find the wires that are used with the press of the button on the adv mirror switch. Use those/that wire/s to activate a timed, sensing, polarity switching relay. Wire each mirror into the relay and meet in the middle of the car somewhere behind the dash. Exactly what I had to do with my civic. And, what I was hoping we could avoid.
If I do go this route, anyone else doing this swap will be able to do it a lot cheaper than the route I went. You would not need any of the advance wiring. Only the mirrors, switch (optional at that point), a timed relay and some effort. I have considered the idea of wiring it in to open/close with car on/off but I prefer to use the button. This would be achievable for those that wanted to go that route. I don't yet know the best way to do both together as the relay (or switch) doesn't know what position the mirror is in. That is to say, if it was wired to activate the relay during start up, and you pressed the switch at the same time, an undesired result may occur.
I will keep digging around for information and thinking of ways to approach this. For now, I'm off to read more about relays
Have you thought about maybe getting some of these parts used? If that's an option, you might be able to find something more reasonably priced via car-part.com

Yeah, I looked a lil. When I started this, the part numbers weren't for sure. Most sites don't list Advance parts or part numbers. Or even recognize it as a trim level. Even several Acura parts sites don't have it in their list. They can get/have the advance parts by part number but many of them don't even offer the option for the trim. That was part of my initial research, just confirming part numbers for what I was trying to get
Today I tore the mirror apart to find which pins run the motor for folding. I already knew they'd work open/close by reversing polarity but I didn't know which two wires in the harness were used. I didn't want to short out anything else, even though I probably won't be using much of it, I decided to tear the whole mirror down.
It was pretty terrible to tear down. Not because it's hard but because it feels like everything is going to break. I used plastic pry tools to not scratch anything. I spent too long messing around but I took pictures so I can reference and enumerate them further later.
For now, I'm going to post the pics of which wires are used and where they are in the adv mirror harness. I haven't compared the mirror harnesses yet. (I did but I don't remember it).
The power folding mirror motor uses orangish-brown+black stripe and the wire next to it, orangish brown. They're in the corner.
The way I count my pins, is looking into the connector with the release on top. 1->10 across the top 11->20 on the bottom. Making the pins #11&12.
2020 Acura TLX Advance Power Folding Mirror. Folding Mirror motor pins. Reverse polarity to change direction. Wire colors are orangish-brown+black stripe and orangish-brown. Your wiring colors may vary and often do year to year
In this picture, the wires used for folding are the top right. Orangish-brown+black stripe & orangish-brown
