Black and Espresso

Went to Palm Beach Acura yesterday with the hope that I would be able to get a deal to my liking on a V6 Advanced. If I got the deal I wanted, I was all prepared to sign the paper work (credit app) and tell them to order me the car in Slate Silver Metallic with Ebony interior. Well, much to my surprise, I got the deal I wanted. But what surprised me even more was the color I end up with.

Some how I ended up with a Crystal Black Pearl with Espresso interior. I've had a silver car for the last 14 years (CL, 3rd Gen TL), and my wife has a silver 2009 MDX. After seeing the car in black, I decided that it was time for a change. Man does that car look great in person (in any color). So I was all set with Black with Ebony. But then I opened the door to a black with espresso. This was the last color combination I thought I would end up with (well, maybe white with parchment). The espresso really makes the leather stand out and gives a little bit of contrast and a lot of luxury feeling. I attached some pictures for comparison along with some other random car shots.

During my test drive I got to experience the ELS stereo. It sounded completely awesome. Better than I could have imagined. Padding on arm rest is WAY improved from my 3G TL. Frameless review mirror is really cool. Nav was higher resolution than I was expecting, but I was disappointed with the lack of smoothness of the movement. Touch screen looked a lot better than in pictures. Car really drove nice. And I really like the shifter buttons. I felt like I was driving a space ship or something futuristic. I know, pretty lame.

Comments, suggestions?

Oh, and the auxiliary tail lights (LED pipes) looks fantastic. Probably the coolest lights I've seen on any car.

Espresso matches the wood-like accent best in my opinion.

I must be the only one who thinks the espresso is seriously hideous.

Hideous? That is a strong reaction. I am getting it in my BWP, I like it a lot

It is my preferred color choice and am seriously disappointed that it was not available for the Copper Black Pearl.

I am holding my comments on the Expresso until I see it but I am heavily biased toward a black interior with white exterior.

OP...Congrats on your TLX and you are making me get that neww car itch pretty bad!!

Congrats! The black and espresso combo looks HOT!!!!!!!!!!

I see that you're in Florida so your car will probably look clean most of the times, but a black car here in Calgary will look dirty most of the times LOL

Would you mind posting more photos of the exterior please, including the rear lights please? Thank you very much!

He may be Canadian. I'm not sure that combo is available for them.

I personally love the expresso color.

Good luck with maintaining black paint

In the US Expresso and Parchment but not Ebony are offered with the Copper Black Pearl. In Canada it is Ebony only. The selections made by some dumb marketing type.

Other strange examples:
- why are headlight washers only available in Canada and not northern US states who can get more snow that some parts of Canada?
- why is the 2.4 model not available with the Advance Package?
- why is idle stop not available with the V6 P-AWD (which likely has the larger battery)?

Rant over (for now).

Thanks, everyone, for the congrats. Although, I think I gave you all a slightly wrong impression. The picture of the car was of a Tech. I have to wait for the Advanced to come in. But thanks anyways!

Some more random pictures from my visit.

Yeah, tell me about it. I've had black before. Shows dirt and dings a lot more. I park in a garage at work and mostly at home, so I'm hoping that will keep it a little cleaner than in the past. Just tired of the silver for now, although I still think it looks good. But the car in black looks like a BMW (to me), almost. It just has that look. And with the espresso, it looks pretty awesome.

Black Copper and Espresso seem like a somewhat natural combination unless you're on a diet because you'd feel like you're stepping into a freaking candy bar.

In the past, I've seen the Bellanova White and Ebony interior not available in the US (I believe on the 4G TL?). I thought that was nuts. I'm glad that combo is around for the 5G.

As for the idle stop. Do you mean on the P-AWS? The SH-AWD models will be the only models to have them. Frankly, that's probably because they need them for the mileage bump.

Luckily, I live in a part of the US where I don't have to worry about headlight washers too much.

I'm actually thinking about jumping from a black/black car (my last 2 have been this combo) to something like white/ebony, but I'm still undecided. Black cars look awesome when they're clean, but they're a nightmare to maintain, and if you own one as long as I own cars, the swirl marks, dings, dents, etc. just mount up. But then I don't know if jumping to a white car is any better. At least dust doesn't show up as easily. Also, I think the dark/piano black in the wheels, sideview mirrors, front bumper, etc. all accentuate the bellanova white. I can't wait until somebody swaps out the wheels on a white one for something a bit umm... different.

WOW! Thanks! That black + espresso combo is KILLER!

I had a black 1G TSX before and it looked wonderful, but the maintenance was a nightmare! LOL! However, seeing this combo here, I may just succumb to temptation again....... but then it is Calgary here... so I need to let me left and right brain fight it out! LOLOL

White gets dirty as well too and it shows dust/dirt almost as bad as black. Red dirt will stain too, from my experience. I had a white car for my first car (older car). It definitely hides scratches/swirl marks and even small dents extremely well though. Silver is still the best color to have. It hides everything a lot longer. My last car was silver.

Have you seen a white/ebony in person yet? It's beautiful! I was so tempted to buy that combination, but it's very hard to keep a car clean around here.

I love all the available color combinations, it's very hard to choose.

BookemDanole congrats!

Have you seen it in person? I wasn't an early adopter (although I didn't think it was hideous), but I have to say, it is a pretty classy color in the flesh. I may even chose to go with it when my purchase turn comes around.

To the OP, congratulations. That is a beautiful car you've got there

Agreed, and like you my last two Acura's were White/Ebony, but that Espresso is pretty sexy....

^^ I wonder if its because it flows better with the wood interior? I know that the wood in some Canadian model is much nicer and more natural looking. I wonder if the same will apply on the Canadian TLX?

Could be, but I think the Ebony interior also flows with the wood accents (probably even more so since it is only contrasting color). Having said that, you really have to see the Espresso up close and personal.

They gave me only $500 off MSRP but they also gave me about $1,500 over Kelly Black Book then I thought I would get for my trade in. One lady there even told me that they can't really work much with the MSRP, but that they could give me extra for my trade in, and it appears that they did. So between the $500 off MSRP, the extra $1,500 for my trade in and the Acura incentives (totaling $1,500), I think I got a pretty good deal.

Good luck and let me know how it goes!

Congrats man! I got the TLX in black too.. I originally wanted the blue paint but that color had the least amount of interior options. I wanted to get it with black interior but Acura doesnt offer it. I was told Acura is really pushing the Espresso interior, enjoy!

BookemDanole congrats!
The one white/ebony I could've seen, I didn't get to because the salesperson seemed only interested in going out if I was going to buy. lol. I drove about 40 miles one way to another dealership because I saw they had white/ebony listed on their site, but when I got there, it was nowhere to be found. As a matter of fact, I'm not sure I've seen an ebony in person. Another place I went to over the weekend had the ebony, but the only car they with that interior was apparently already bought and he couldn't locate the keys for it. Maybe this is someone's way of telling me "no... no more black interior". Right now, I'm seriously leaning toward Team Bellanova.

That's so weird lol. Blue is offered with ONLY black interior in Canada. No gray/espresso available.
