Any reliable info on 2016 TLX changes, new models, and ETA?

It's not that long. Just about a year ago from Aug. Spring of 2016 is way too early for a 2017 car. Fall 2016 at the earliest. But I can't wait that long. I just hope the transmission issues are worked out, but they just go on and on and on.

one full calendar year is long for any mainstream model

I would be all over a hybrid version like the RLX's system or the TLX GTs turbo V6 but I suspect that won't come until the 2018 model year if ever.
Meanwhile Infiniti's upcoming 400 hp Q60 is looking like the winner for me.

The 2016 TLX should be out soon, as the TQI TSBs and the accessory installation instructions were released yesterday. It looks to be unchanged from the 2015, but we'll have to wait for the official press release for all the details.

yep, looks more and more like it'll be a quiet release of the '16 TLX since no changes to be made. i still predict a short model year for '16, and we will see '17 TLX spring of 2016 with significant changes (not a MMC just yet, but definitely noticeable changes)

Also, can anyone guess what this will mean for prices on the 2015? Will they continue to go down and even reach their low point when 2016s are on lots, or will they go up once 2016s are on lots (and customers realize there are no changes)?
Finally, does anyone know when the press release would usually come out following these bulletins?

The V6 really moves. Why want a turbo when the 9 speed auto runs to 100 mph in 13 seconds acording to CarandDriver magazine? If my choice was 4 or 4 turbo then yes. RDX with turbo 4 was not as popular nor any quicker than the V6.
#213
Same model levels and colors. No Acurawatch options and no trim changes. Models being produced late Sept and take 2 weeks to arrive. Should see 16s trickling in mid October. No loyalty program on 16 TLX models yet, so TSX and TL owners make
#214
The choice should be between turbo 4 and 3.7 L V6 in my opinion, but that's probably not what they're going to do.
13.3 seconds to be exact for 0-100 as well. That's not what I would call a rocket ship, but on par for the class. Neither slow nor particularly fast compared to other vehicles its price.
I'm still buying one anyways because I do like it as-is (the US models need to get what we get in Canada and it would be a slightly more attractive proposition to them).

Two weeks after this post there are 12,220 TLX's shown on Cars.com. These numbers can't be right. If they are why would they waste time producing the 2016 right now? This is a 3+ month supply. Probably some great deals on 2015's out there.
#217
Like I posted earlier. Programs are crazy good right now so the best deals are available. At my dealership we have approx. 80 TLX's. Needless to say we are very flexible on the price.

The 2016 Accord also gets Michelin tires (at least on the EX model that I saw today) instead of the low rated Goodyears that had been used the last few years. I hope the TLX also gets Michelins instead of Goodyears.

at least for me and people around me who drive Acuras, if Apple CarPlay or Andoid Auto is added to the new TLX as standard equipment, they will not go for the tech package, and rightfully so. i don't think Acura will throw in CarPlay just yet until they do enough market research to see if people are satisfying with it on the new Accord, because if it works well, tech package takers will definitely take a hit
#225
Are their any luxury brands out there using Apple play and Android play yet? I have heard a few companies talk about eventually getting it but haven't really seen it implemented in any car yer besides Hyundai and now the Accord.
#226
The Tech package is the way to go. I use voice commands for climate, radio and navigation commands. I seldom touch anything in the center stack. You have SiriEyes which is great and makes appleplay not neccesary. Why be limited to only a few apps that are accessible with Apple Carplay versus full function with Siri. If you do not understand then you have never taken or used Siri to her capacity.

2016 VW Golf has CarPlay standard, from regular Golf hatchback all the way to Golf GTI and Golf R

I am an Android person. Being an Android person, I know that no built-in oem solution is going to cut it, including Android Auto. If you want the best, you're going to need to set up a tablet/phone in your car and do it that way. I have tried many car systems, and they all have serious flaws. The bottom line is that car manufacturers are behind. By definition they're going to be behind anyway, because your gadgets will advance faster than anything built into the car.
Android Auto has some advantages, no doubt, like built in GPS antenna for Maps, easier use of some apps, etc. But it has major disadvantages, also. App choices are severely limited and what you get of the apps isn't full featured. It really isn't that great.
I can see why Acura would go with the system they've put together over Android Auto/CarPlay. It wouldn't make sense to try to combine the two--it's clearly one or the other. And going from the system Acura has now to Android Auto/CarPlay would actually be a downgrade in terms of flexibility, etc. I can see why they are testing that on Hondas that had less-featured, less-integrated systems to begin with and why Hyundai has put it in, etc.
Also, if you have had the chance to actually try Android Auto, you would realize it's just not that great yet. I think Acura is making a smart choice waiting until 2017 at the earliest. Before it comes in, they need to be able to keep all the previous features. As it stands, that would not be the case.

As for market research.... how many people line up at Acura dealerships sleeping in tents waiting for the next Acura vehicle release? Anything 'Apple' is going to be in demand, not too hard for them to figure out. They certainly didn't seem to do much market research on who needs rear wheel steer and I'm sure that cost them a lot more per car than Car Play. They are missing a golden opportunity to be first to market in the Luxury segment with Car Play. They are just too slow. Again. There was a time when Acura was ahead of the market. Now they play catch-up to Honda. If they needed market research they should have called up their buddies in Honda and asked them It's like they don't talk to each other.

My guess is that when they do finally put it in the car it may be part of the Tech Package, so you'll need to get it anyway to get the screen etc. Car based navigation systems just haven't kept up with phone based and probably never will. It is inevitable that people relying on the car based nav will be fewer and fewer.

Acura is at the top of the pack when it comes to tech features that actually work well, like driver assistance features. The combo of LKAS and ACC and how well they work is well above anyone other than Mercedes. BMW would be at the same level or better if they put European tech into North American cars, but they don't. I haven't tried Lexus on that, in all honesty, but they don't even offer those features on a sedan.
I think a bigger issue for Acura is they don't market it well enough//play up enough their tech. That's probably the big issue, period, for Acura: marketing issues.
They should really play up their tech more and even grow a bigger niche when it comes to younger, tech savvy customers.

There's a reason why luxury makers haven't taken it up yet. It isn't even ready and would be a serious downgrade from at least some makers current systems. Have you even tried it?

It works well enough for Honda to put it in their two biggest selling sedans. Will it be perfect? No, but it can be updated and this feature will help sell cars.
If you asked potential TLX buyers if they would rather have rear wheel steer, or Carplay/Android Auto, I bet a vast majority would pick the phone features over the rear wheel steer. In fact it would not surprise me if the average TLX owner even knows it has PAWS.

The addition of these features in the TLX and ILX and RDX are inevitable. And if Lexus and BMW and MB are slow to adopt them, all the more reason why Acura had a golden opportunity to beat them to market in the luxury segment. They are just too slow. I'm sure we'll see it a year from now in the MMC. Honda is just more hungry than Acura and apparently have more efficient engineering processes.

Lexus has similar features in the GS and LS. They have an active lane keep system (will keep you between the lines automatically). My 2015 ES350 has passive lane keep (just barks at you if you are drifting) but supposedly the 2016 ES350 has an active setup now as well. The interesting thing about the '16 ES350 is that Lexus is offering a package just like AcuraWatch, but its only $500.00!
Their infotainment system isnt the greatest but its similar to Infiniti's....offloads some of the "stuff" to your phone and leaves some of it in the car itself.

I have to be honest, when it comes to the car play options I was all excited and hoping they put it in Acura but after playing with it I just don't feel it is really worth it. I get the idea of what it could be but it just seems so cheap and to me it doesn't seem to fit with a luxury brand car. Whether it is entry level luxury like Acura or a fully decked out BMW. I think the smart phone integration is a good concept to have but the carplay tech to me takes away from the luxury side of the car. I played with it in the new Accord and I wasn't really impressed. When I got back in my TLX, I didn't feel like I was missing anything. My feeling is more like meh, I wouldn't pay extra for it. If I had to choose it over my current option I don't think I would take it.
#236
The system is very similar but the 16 Accord has new hardware (the touch screen was updated) and I'm guessing that's the difference. I would expect the MMC TLX to get the new tablet hardware and maybe at that time Carplay.

My view (obviously):
Car Play is a much cooler useful feature in a more basic car than a premium/luxury car. If I were in the market for a Civic LX or Cruze LT or what not I'd be very excited about it as I could keep the cost of the car relatively low and add cool features like navigation and iPod control without having to add extra cost to an economy car by opting for the more expensive navigation/media package.
While I know that you can certainly buy a base model TLX without it, I'd dare say most of us have at least the Tech Package which gives you navigation and iPod integration. Again, just my view, but can't fathom why people buy cars like BMWs (5 and 7 series) without inbuilt navigation/optional nicer stereo option. While most of us are pretty tech savvy (we're on computers talking about cars and what not), typically (and statistically speaking) the more expensive the car the older the buyer (to a point) and the less concerned they are than a fresh college graduate buying their first new car. Yes, I realize there are many exceptions to this but even as a tech savvy 36 year old male, I'm less concerned about Car Play than some of my 10-15 year younger friends who are starting their first 'big kid' jobs and buying possibly their first new cars such as Civics and Accords.
I do think as time goes on we'll see more adoption of Car Play and full smart phone integration throughout car lines and yes that includes all Acuras. The proof I think that I wouldn't hold off on not buying a TLX now bc you hope it will have Car Play is that the 2016 RLX Sport Hybrid flag ship is available for order/purchase and doesn't include it.

The GS also appears to have the nudging system. I think only their suvs have had active lane centering that keeps you in the center of the lane as opposed to a system that only nudges you once you drift.

The 2016 ES350 appears to have a lane system that nudges you when you are leaving a lane. That's markedly different than the Acura active lane centering. The E350 also only has high speed adaptive cruise. So the tlx advance easily outclasses.

The LKAS can be tricky since it uses the painted lines as it's guide. I use the system a lot now and have to be alert when the lane splits (forks) as the car can't decide which line to follow. Overall, I like that and the ACC.
