Any new news on the next gen?
I haven't seen anything since that prototype last year. Everything here seems to indicate the 2019 is more of the same model I'm hoping they retire soon.

Honda/Acura usually goes 5-6 years between full redesigns, so I'm thinking 2020 at the earliest, but probably 2021.

I checked with the mgr at the local dealer who was pretty spot on way ahead of the 2018 release on what was coming out. He said his understanding is that there will not be any significant change in the TLX until the 2021/2022 model year which means mid year 2020 to mid year 2021. He also said this is when the type S model will debut as well. Hope he is wrong but probably not. I think mid year 2020 is most likely based on past model runs. So just a couple more years at least.

After all, the 2018 ILX is still selling (with the NA 2.4) 3 model years after the 2016 Civic 1.5T was introduced. Honda's R&D is likely to complete the much more profitable MDX, and possibly the ILX successor before the next TLX.

I think Acura lineup will follow the new design as:
1. Spring/Summer 2018: RDX
2. Spring 2019: ILX
3. Summer/Fall 2019: MDX
4. Spring/Summer 2020: TLX
5. RLX and NSX (not sure)
I am not 100% sure but I there is high chance of 2 new vehicles to be added in Acura lineup: CDX (chances are high) and a 2 door TLX (chances are less but to compete with Infiniti and Lexus at least, we will leave Germans alone for now.)
This is very basic lineup...Acura as a brand should have these cars.
any thoughts?

IMHO - they need to make the ILX a more urban vehicle. Slightly slimmer and shorter for the tiny parking spots in denser population areas. Make it 4 door so you can open the door in tight parking spots. Concentrate on the front 2 seats (make it a 4 seater but don't worry about space in the back 2)- leave family vehicles to the RDX class. Make it a hybrid for crappy stop and go traffic on urban surface and highways. Give it EVERY technological advantage the Accord has. Make it decent to drive - 0-60 should be 7 seconds or less - no semi luxury car should be over 7 seconds. The TLX covers a different niche - perhaps those that already have a family. Lastly - try not to beat it too much with the ugly stick. Basically the ILX should be a more luxurious version of the new Honda Insight.

That's why I believe we'll eventually get the CDX in N. America.

I don't know if this is relevant to next gen TLX but it's something:

There are four lights!
Or a Type-S tester?

Nice, looks like an E43 4matic. If they're bench marking that would make all the talks of a 400hp 3.0T next gen TLX make sense.

The next-gen TL which became the TLX was a Honda Accord mule at one point, so who knows. This could be a TLXXX or a ULX or ZLX or TLY. lol.
