Always put your TLX emergency brake on while parked.

I had a TLX loaner car the other day(nice car, but not for me, especially with the jumpy tranny shifts) and the service manager told me to make sure I put the emergency brake on everytime I park the car.
Later on I was waiting for my MDX to be pulled out of the shop and I was asking a few of the techs and the SM why the EM brake had to be on. They said there were a few incidents where the car shifted into drive even though it was set to park via the push button. One incident the car drove right into someone house while parked in their garage. Better to be safe then sorry.
This is probably reason seventy five why I only drive manuals if available.

^^ I think pretty much here are aware of this, and mostly due to the recall associated with the 9 speed transmission problem.

The era of self driving cars is here. Now they just have to learn how to do it properly!

Has anyone been notified by the dealer to bring their car in yet?

Not I, but I did notice that there is an "official" NHTSA recall number now when I go to the Honda.com recalls site. It used to say "pending" or something.

I was hoping it was one of the other definitions I found on Wikipedia:

Fud or FUD may refer to:

FUD (brand), a Mexican brand of cold cuts and hot dogs
Fear, uncertainty and doubt, a marketing or political strategy
Female urination device
Fully undetectable

From the honda website under recalls.
"RECALL STATUS: Recall INCOMPLETE. Remedy not yet available."

Hmm- what does this mean. They don't know how to fix it ?
Its funny, I've been in/called a few acura dealerships over the last few weeks and all of them have denied there's a recall on the TLX when I mentioned it. Probably not a good thing to say in a showroom of customers looking at the shiny new TLX. I feel bad for anyone who gets these cars with this problem.

The recall is real, they know how to detect if there is a problem, but the website has not been updated. Why feel bad for anyone on the recall list (mine is on the list, and a have been informed). It is not like saying that the car has 3 months to live. There is a good chance that the car will not have the problem, and if it does it will be repaired under warranty. A minor inconvenience for most people.

From everything I have heard and read, there has been very few of the cars on the recall list that actually had a problem. Acura gave a wide range of possible VINs as a CYA only.

My dealer had 17 cars on the Stop Sale list, all 17 were cleared.

Really ?
How bout if your cars parked in the garage or driveway and it runs over something (or someone ) when you have it (so you think) safely in park ? You don't think having the car slip out of park into drive is a big deal ?

Do you know of any cases where the car slipped out of Park? have you noticed that no one on here has reported such an incident?

I am not saying that it would not be a bad if it happened.

Actually I do. And just because no one here, a small handful of Acura owners, has not reported it doesn't mean it never happened. Billion dollar companies don't recall vehicles for no reason, believe that.

Why is this thread not a part of the other transmission recall thread? Also, as I understand, if it were to fail, it would slip from park to neutral allowing the car to roll when off. I don't recall any details on Park>Drive while on... FUD

Ok so there is a problem and Acura is on it. Why are you so concerned? You don't own a TLX so relax.

I'm just passing on some friendly advice to some fellow Acura enthusiasts.
Just because I don't own a particular version of the car doesn't mean I don't care.
If you had a friend who owned an RL for example and he found out that the cars brakes lock up once you hit 60,000 miles you wouldn't tell anyone here because you personally don't own the car ?

But this problem has already been reported, discuss, and flogged to death in other threads and forums, so it just seems like FUD.

I vote for this thread to be moved, closed or merged with the one in Problem & Fixes.

Thanks for the friendly advice, but I already follow the safety procedure of applying the parking brake.
