2020 TLX 3.5 A-Spec purchase

Hi guys,

I'm picking up a 2020 TLX Aspec V6 on Monday. The car is apex blue and has 10k miles. I've seen different trim models for the 4 cylinder, like technology, advanced, etc.. How can I tell what the trim level is? By VIN? I am interested in the features such as wireless charger.

Also, anything to look out for with this car? I had a 2001 CL Type S for a while and fortunately sold it before it had the transmission issues.

The trim you are getting is the "Aspec" trim, which is basically the Technology trim with an appearance package. The trims available on the '20 TLX V6 are:
Base
Technology
Aspec
Advance
PMC

Enjoy your new car.

Nice, 10k is nearly new.... Fwd or AWD? Red interior?

Got a 18 Aspec Fwd, but if I had the money would like a 2G 2.0T.

Had a CLS6 and 3G TLS6 before this. Newer Acuras are nothing like those were.

AWD, ebony interior. Better or worse than the old models? I liked my CLS a lot.

Congrats on your A-Spec AWD! You’ll love it …just watch out as some V6 TLX owners including me have ran into an unsettling issue of the engine seizing up and failing. Not saying it will happen since you’re getting essentially a new car considering it only has 10k miles. But just be aware and make sure you have an extended warranty on the car via Acura CPO or 3rd Party. Outside of that it’s an awesome machine, the SH-AWD is FUN in the bends, overall styling is very attractive on the 1G A-Specs, once you experience Apple CarPlay/Android Auto you’ll never want to own a car without it! Great car you’ll love it

Not really better or worse, more so a large amount of technology. I spent a day just reading the owners manual to educate myself on it. I would just make sure the options you have all work. I found out after the puchase that a front parking sensor had been hit by a rock. thus disabling the parking sensing system. The battery and alternator is a key to running all the tech. My wife drives the TLX primarily so I don't have a lot of seat time, but its a nice car. The std warranty is 4yr/50k and 6y powertrain. Not big on ext warranties, but that's your call.

Just got it home. So far, so good. I opted for no warrantee because of the 70k powertrain existing. Cooled seats are neat. The HUD blinks when I start it, but the controls are not there. No remote start which is a bummer. Other than that, should be a fun car.

It may be worth the extended warranty depending on how many miles are on it. A number of v6 AWD models seem to have had bearing damage/failure arise, myself included, and that's definitely not something you want to deal w/ outside of any warranty. That being said, make sure you understand fully what the extended warranty covers and how it covers things of this sort. Based on stories I've been told, some may make you responsible for the cost of diagnosing the issue and then only pay to repair specifically what failed, i.e. a specific bearing, and the rest may be on you to cover. Just best to know up front...

yes that extended warranty was a must for me since I was buying my A-Spec AWD at 57k miles and now the bearing/s in my engine spun out on me and now @ 61k miles my engine is ruined and needs replacement. Luckily it happened before my 70k mile factory powertrain warranty ran out.

Congrats and good luck on your new TLX! I own a 2019 TLX A-Spec 3.5L FWD with 23K on it have not had any issues with it so far. I had the dealer install remote start on it last winter, and I think it cost around ~$700 if my memory serves me correct.

Sheesh OP could get it done much cheaper if they buy the parts and install it diy.. I did with my 2016 TLX and it only costed me $200 for the OEM remote start accessory parts and $150 for programming at the dealer.

It's been nearly a week and I love it. It doesn't look like there is much I can do in the way of aftermarket parts. My old CLS had a Comptech header and a cold air intake. Any recommendations for some carbon fiber upgrades? I like the carbon spoiler on the Type S (dealer option). It has a small black spoiler on the trunk lid now. Changing that to carbon and perhaps a front carbon lip would be nice. Any suggestions other than the dealer?
