2016 TLX Weak Start however battery is relatively new..

47k Miles and I did replace the battery with the recommended type for my vehicle only about 18 months ago. The start seems pretty weak and recently it almost felt like it wasn't going to start..

Have battery and charging system checked. Check for a parasitic draw. Or probably just a poor battery. Honda OEM batteries don't seem to last. Advice on this forum is to go with an AGM battery with highest CCA.

Do you know what the parsitic draw should be? My battery dies after a few days- brand new replacement for the same issue. I'm showing under 70ma of draw.

2015 TLX Advance FWD.
I have been through 3 battery replacements since 9/2020 when I bought the car. The Acura dealer that I purchased the car from supposedly replaced the battery but was failing to charge after 1 1/2 yrs. I replaced that battery with a duralast with 730 CCA from Autozone, 11 months later that battery tested good but was failing to charge again. Autozone covered for a new battery but this time I went with the Duralast Platinum AGM battery 760 CCA (just pd. $50 for the upgrade). so far so good since 11/2022, and I have another 3 yr full replacement warranty with the AGM battery.
The Service Advisor with Frank Leta Acura here in St. louis said that you can expect the battery to last only 2-4 yrs., especially with the Advance model with all of the accessories.

18 A spec v6 unexpectantly wouldnt start. Batt showed 11.8v, after sitting few nights. No lights on, slow cranking or charge light prior to. Alt showed 14.1 v when on. Batt was only 2 yrs old. I blame AZ heat. Anyways, opted for AGM replacement vs lead acid, since it was only $20 more and had 4 yr warranty vs 3 at walmart.

St. Louis weather here during the Summer months can be brutal, but nothing like Arizona, Texas, Louisiana etc.

Yeah, I don't expect a battery to go more than 3 years! I bought this in 2/20 with 90k on it. The battery went 2.8 yrs, less than 30k miles. The "new batt went 7 months before slowly dying, it had a 3 yr exchange warranty so I replaced it last month- now this one's dying after 4 days of non use.

Maybe some of you have a dash cam improperly wired.

I have one, it's got a plug that goes into the power port where the cigarette lighter should be! Had it for years and it didn't drain anything but I do pull it out after parking it for the night.

I had my 18 for 4 years without battery replacement. I did have the stop/start disabled about 3 months in as I very much disliked that feature. There were a few times where it seemed to "struggle" to restart though during that initial time before the feature was disabled. I suppose not having the stop start engaghe lenghtens the battery life which offsets the minimal mpg gain that the feature provided. Not sure if that was it but a battery should last 4 years at a minimum in my book.

Whoa! So how did you have the auto stop disabled? I’d love to get ride of that “feature”/annoyance.

Thanks DouglasM! So how was the degree of difficulty for installation?
I did one of these type things on my 2019 F150, which required just a little bit of dash digging and wasn't too nerve wracking...

It's very easy. It will come with self-explanatory instructions and all you do is pop up the center console shift plate and disconnect one plug and install it.

This is going to be hard to believe but last winter I had a weak start problem also.. and I knew it was the battery right? It turns out it was actually the starter. The starter apparently decided it needed more and more power to work. So rather than just failing all of a sudden it just started draining more and more power and requiring more and more power until it wouldn't start. And typically when that happens I almost always go for the battery. And the battery was about three years old so I thought it was on its way out. But nope it was the starter! I never seen a starter fail like that before.. And it really had me confused because I had lights and everything worked except it just wouldn't start...

Update- turns out my replacement (OEM) power window controller was leeching power overnight. It was an OEM for Honda's on Ebay- worked fine and such but I found a used original part on Ebay as well- problem solved!
