2015 P-AWS or 2014 SH-AWD ?
I am in the market for a car (for the wifey). I am a fan of AWD, but not limited to FWD since it's for the wife anyway. We are living in NE so the AWD is a plus. Here's the thing:
The Acura dealer near our place has at least 8-10 2014 TL SH-AWD on the lot and I saw one that I like with Advance package that listed for $46K. How much would you pay for this?
On the other hand, I also checked out the new 2015 and they have tons of those on the lot but they're P-AWS and the listed price for the Advance was $43K.
My dilemma is I like AWD and newer designs of the TLX. Can I wait for the 2015 AWD version? Yes I can, but then I won't be able to negotiate much on the price. So, I am hoping you guys can point out something to help making my decision.
Thanks!

If this is the primary drive for your wife then let her make the decision. Happy wife, happy life. Chances are she will never notice the difference with AWD, and may find P-AWS beneficial for parking.
Finally, if you drop down to P-AWS then you have more options, I4 (but no Advance package) or V6.

I'd let the wife test drive the 2014 SHAWD. The ride may be too stiff for her daily driving. That's the only drawback. Or you could wait for the TLX AWD. It has softer ride than the TL AWD.

The good thing about the 14 TL is it would be a rock solid vehicle if you need something to last you 4-6 trouble-free years. My wife just wants simple and would be just as fine with a base model compared to an Advance sh-awd version.
The +15 TLX is a new version and the +14 MDX had higher than usually first year growing pains. Acura's usually become rock soild by its 3rd year and/or MMC year. The new TLX advance sh-awd will give a lot of advantages not found on the 14 TL like improved mpgs, more tech, better styling, improved headlights, improved transmission, next gen sh-awd, better power to weight ratio, lighter weight, etc..
I would wait for a TLX adv sh-awd if you and/or your wife are tech heads, mpgs improvement is important, and fairly close to a dealership for 1st year model issues. You can always go back to the 14 TL once you check out the 15 TLX adv sh-awd.

14 SH-AWD versus 15 SH-AWD
Weight wise, I suspect because of cost savings on materials and upgraded sound deadening material the TLX is heavy compared to the TL. The TLX has more electronics, but is smaller, smaller tires, wheels, rear brakes, no spare tire and jack, etc.. I think the power to weight and the ability to actually get it to the ground is the TL gets the nod. I think if it was better power to weight Acura would have pointed that out. Sort of Aggression versus Thrill
I just have not warmed up to the TLX yet.. Needs to be in the SH-AWD form with the 245/40/19 and a spare tire for me say well at least now we have something to work with.

you would happily accept the looks of a 4G TL, even when the new TLX is out? this is problem we wish we all had. if youre indifferent enough between the two, then why walk away from the heavily discounted TL?
just saw a $51k MSRP with a $42k asking price at a dealer.

Exterior looks.
Looking at the dealer I found a 14 SH-AWD TECH for 36K in white. To me the "beak" looks more understated in the 14. The front fenders go vertical from the hood making it more aggressive. The exhaust with the flat black diffuser, with the tail lip on the trunk that looks much nicer to me in person on the 14 The trunk lip on 15 has gaps on each side that look like they will collect dirt inside.
Coming in fresh I realize most on this forum may not agree. But I am a perspective buyer looking around.

The TLX lighter weight and 8/9AT might make it more responsive on the gas pedal and more toss-able in the corners compared to the older TL. I love the way my TSX drives in the corners; but, hate I can't power out because of the I-4. You also get the added bonus of TSX mpgs with TL power.

Vhtran, you like the new design of the TLX, but you also want AWD capability.
The AWD TLX can be ordered from the dealership right now.
Just spent a little more money, and order an AWD TLX now.
There is nothing worst in life than to stuck driving around daily in the car constantly regretting yourself afterwards, for not spending a little more money for a better car that you could have gotten, but didn't.

Thanks all. I tried to give an offer to the dealer on the 15' but because it's fairly new so they won't budge my offering. I also tried the 14' with the Advance but still haven't heard anything from the salesperson yet.
I understand that shelling out a little more for the 15' AWD is much better but the thing is I am giving up on my 07' Audi A6 to get the wife a new car and I am taking over "her" 14' Subaru Legacy (nothing wrong with my Audi, just want a nicer car for her, also I am not rich either hehehe). Let's make it short, if I am all out for a nice car for her now, it will be long before I can get my "ideal" ride. =)

Totally forgot + lazy about this thread. Anyway, we found a deal few weeks ago that we couldn't passed up. It's a new 14' Honda Accord Touring and the wife is pretty happy with it. I guess our next purchase will be in another year or two once we pay off the Accord and it will be an interesting one. I still visit this forum times to times for information and enjoy the discussions.

Where in the NE do you live? I live in NJ and even though we get some pretty healthy snows here it's not often I can't get where I need to go in FWD; also because it's NJ there aren't switchbacks and chicanes to apex at high speed on the way to work, either, so I don't feel bad about not getting AWD, would've been nice but I tried to be realistic about it.

I have no problem with FWD cars or most of my family members do. I had a G coupe with snow tires and I was fine, but since I recently own AWD and snow tires is the plus in snow. I just prefer AWD cars now. We are next to the border of NH and my in laws are in NH. We do visit them quite often. :-)
