2015 Acura TLX Commercials
I like them. A lot. They show off the car best. They fit perfectly: Some of the best commercials from Acura in a long time for one of their best sedans in a long time.
(My Favorite one- odd song though )

Nice to see they mention Luda. He still drives his 93 Acura Legend!!!
But I vote for #2 too. Inspiring. Hope they walk the talk and talk the walk, or something like that - lol.
PS. In the first video it sounds like a bad bearing

Should have said "Internet-savvy adults WHO FEEL LIKE THEY ARE in their mid-30s"

Yeah.... I don't want to talk about it.
:-)
I only sold my race car last year, at the age of 58.

For Luda's commercial they should have had two car-level-up things (Whatever the TLX came out of the ground on) and had his Legend on the other behind the TLX, just enough to where we could see the front end! lol
I'm surprised Luda didn't offer for the 19" accessory wheels btw, lol

BTW I have watched the 2nd video so many times in full screen and HD looking for clues of a Coupe somewhere like a clay model or drawings or some writing. Let me know if you guys find anything.

They are okay. But could be much better. The first one is the worst. Looks like something Mazda would done, e.g. "Vrooom vrooom" commercial.
The music choices for the first two are terrible. They want to make it feel like fun and funny or something like that, which seems odd to me if they want to aspire to be a luxury brand.
I like the second commercial best. But again terrible music. Should be something more serious that means business. The commercial shows some pretty neat stuff done during the development of the car but then complements that with "odd" (non-serious) sounding music. Kinda mixed messages here.
3rd commercial, meh. Better music choice. Odd/strange message/visual.
I guess they really want to change the image of Acura, for better or for worst.
Personally, I think they should just keep it simple: show the car, not all those people and distractions, show the nice angles, the nice details, mix some exciting sound and music with the engine sound. Done.

I dont find anything absolutely funny about the second video. It's a well crafted, artfully executed vision on the drive and passion behind their beliefs and their product design. It shows that they also don't take themselves soo seriously where you end up with stiff, boring, corp nonsense. It shows they are still human and work hard at what they do.
IMO, that second video shows Acura as the "Google" of car manufactures. Smart, witty, determined and passionate as hell about what they do. Brilliant marketing if you ask me.

Interesting to always see differing perspectives.

You made a good point in that they want to project a Web-generation hip image but not sure if it suits the product at all.

Still prefer the darker, more serious theme they used in the robotic horse and prototype commercials. Those truly get the blood pumping (thanks to a good mix of engine noise and appropriate background music), and seem more fitting for a luxury performance brand. Not this wishy washy "I sell cars and you sell you" or weird music with close-ups of someone's eyeball

Edit: regarding the eyeball, shouldn't the pupil dilate when excited?

They are good/well done commercials if you have the mute button pressed. There needed to be a much better choice of music.

Acura has made some terrible commercials of late (RLX) and I thought the would follow the same trend with some of the stupid ones we saw early on. The prototype ones posted above were the only good ones. The other "thrill" ones are garbage. It just really made Acura seem as confused as always. What direction are they advertising in? Throw anything at the wall and see what sticks?
The new videos look to be like a reboot of their advertising direction. The first video is false advertising, again trying to position it as an enthusiast's car which it is not. It is definitely fast and capable but not exactly a roller coaster ride. Even if I knew nothing about the car it doesn't seem believable. Third commercial is corny, I don't really get it. If they were gonna get Luda in there it could have been executed much better.
The 2nd video is AWESOME however. Right THERE is how they should be consistent. That is the direction they need. They need to bring out a whole series of commercials on that kind of theme. It actually tries to bring some emotion and passion out of the car.

I love the 2 fat dudes doing the chest bump the most. You kind of hope it sells well for those 2... even if they're just actors. lol.

I love the "My Way" ad. THAT ad, to me, is a throwback to the "Precision Crafted" days of the 90's. As an OG Acura fan for almost 30 years, this ad hit me right in the gut.
Big to the new marketing company, they have really shaken up Acura's marketing. Keep up the good work!

Wasn't the guy who got up in bed in the middle of the night Brian???
I really like how they got these real life Acura engineers to be involved with the commercial! I get a sense that this team is really proud of their "baby" and have been very involved throughout the entire process. This video really captures that sentiment very well. The Hargett team must be so proud!!!
