FWIW--When I picked up my TLX Advance, they already had wheel locks, all-weather floor mats and trunk tray on the car. When I protested they said, "consider them to be our gift". I replied, "Thank you."
For my $500 accessories, I chose something really trivial--the illuminated door sills. The salesman even seemed to think they were cool. For our RDX, I purchased body color side moldings on EBay and installed them myself. As they came with a template, it was easy work.

Is it possible to use this credit toward an extended warranty?

Decklid spoiler and cargo hooks.
I wonder if my brand new Honda Accord all weather mats will fit in the TLX? Or maybe I can get my salesguy to do an even swap with me for the TLX mats...

Depends on the dealer and your negotiation skills. It is simple - Acura gives the dealer up to $500 towards stuff they install. It is up to you and the dealer to negotiate what that "stuff" is and how much it costs.

Just got to spend my first full day drivinging my I - 4 tech after my vacation. Love everything about the car, but coming from an accord couple, backing up it seems like a lot of blind spots, even with the camera. This is my first car with a rier few camera, so I'm sure I will get more use to it. With that being said, I am seriously considering getting the back up sensors with my accessory money.

Body Side Molding - no protection?
The side molding doesn't protect from dings? Can people confirm that? It's the only reason I've ordered it, so I'll cancel it if not. Thanks!

That video of the door sill trim looks really nice. So the directions show just the front doors but can you do all 4 doors?
Anyone, install these yet DIY...how was it?

Dealer had to do a dealer trade to get my car. When it came in it had rear splash guards, trunk tray, and wheel locks ( that were all marked up over Acura msrp) but were not included in the msrp of the car I did the deal on so I got that stuff no charge. I didn't qualify for the $500 credit so that was kind of a nice bonus.

My dealer is doing a dealer trade too. Hoping for a bonus of any kind myself!

Question... Just finalized the paperwork on my car and was told that the $500 credit certificate will be sent in the mail. Is this accurate? I knew the 2 payments are sent via debit card but thought the accessory credit was instant through the dealer?

At least in the MD area, the $1000 incentive and $500 accessory credit was going to be 3 $500 visa gift cards. Now the accessory $500 comes as a dealer credit.

When I took delivery of my TLX I got the all season mats and trunk tray. Then I went back a few days later and request a sunshade and was told I should have ordered it when I received the car because the paperwork was already submitted to Acura. They eventually ordered the sunshade because none was in stock and I picked it up today.

interesting. I assume it should be the same for every dealer. My dealer said it's sent by Acura in 6-8 weeks with the two payment debit card. My car is set for delivery around September 10th. I'll call Acura this week to see what they say. The debit card I can wait for but I was hoping to get the accessories when my car gets here.

You should be able to get the accessories as part of your negotiated deal as the dealer knows that the cheque/payment is from Acura to them. At least that is my understanding of the arrangement in Canada.

THanks! I'll give Acura Customer Relations a call just to be sure how it's supposed to work.

After speaking with Acura customer relations and the service director it was clarified that the $500 credit is given at the dealership (not in the mail). I ordered remote start, trunk tray, and 2 cargo hooks... Getting remote start and cargo hooks installed Monday. :-)

@Narnia, I mentioned to the sales manager at my dealership here in Georgia that the prices on the Acura website were lower than their accessories cost sheet and they honored the price on the website and gave me 20% off. I was fortunate enough that the dealership automatically puts wheel locks, trunk tray and splash guards on their TLX V6 model when it comes from the factory so I opted for the all season floor mats and the spare tire. It doesn't hurt to ask. Had I paid the dealership's price the floor mats would have been $194 and the spare tire would have been $476! I ended up paying $131 for the floor mats and $295 for the spare tire.

They did come down considerably on the prices for the accessories though. I'm getting the decklid spoiler installed for $500, and their sheet listed it at $685 (MSRP is $397, which I assume doesn't include installation).

Just got the call that my i4 BWP / Ebony is in!! setting up to pick it up on Friday, but now trying to get the $500 accessory credit worked out. Wanted the remote start system, dealer says $399 +install ($200ish). So question, Appears I have to pay install and not part of credit, Just not sure what I should be getting from the dealer and how to work the $500 credit into more like the above post ($1000) (fyi dealer has been very responsive with updates etc)

I got a $500 credit for accessories.
I chose the decklid spoiler and two cargo hooks - the total cost from my dealer for that - including installation and tax was $687 - so I had to pay $187.
In other words - the price of the accessories does not include any installation or tax so that needs to be added in. Of course you can try to negotiate that out - I made the effort and got nowhere with my guy but in the end $187 is more than fair for what I got.
Good luck!

I work for Acura. The $500 credit is for SRP of the part or parts on the Acura website. The dealer is suppose to install at no charge per the written agreement. If they are charging you, you got taken.

Wait...what? Install at no charge!?! Where's this stated? Do you have this in writing? I think everyone here (including myself) got charged for the installation of accessories we ordered with the $500 credit.

Actually...doing a google search I just found this...
http://www.cmginfo.net/adv/Acurawebs...s_final_v4.pdf
Does the Personalization Allowance cover any installation costs associated with the accessory or
accessories purchased?
No. Participating dealerships will need to absorb the installation costs of the accessories purchased through the client’s Personalization Allowance as participation in the promotion.
Interesting! Did not know this...hmmm...

This is typical case or buyer beware. The dealers are fine tuned to extract the maximum amount from the average buyer, and the average buyer is unprepared and overly excited about this bright shiny new toy.
I have been buying cars for many years but was still stung with my current purchase. There are many tips on the web, but here is my recommendation:
1. Do your research before stepping into the showroom so that you know what you are interest in.
2. Price the car using web tools and decide how much you are willing to spend, and start negotiating at a lower price point and be prepared to walk away.
3. If planning a trade-in spend the $50 or $100 to get a Black Book or similar evaluation.
4. Do not agree to any add-ons that you have not already decided to purchase, e.g., extended warranty, exterior and interior surface protection, safety and theft coverage, etc.
5. After generally agreeing to the purchase, get the invoice printed out review private before signing. This will allow you to double check all the options and prices, and it is amazing how they can twist the numbers and slide something in. Question every item that is not clear. If satisfied then sign it.
Final comment. I had wheel locks included in the deal. They were installed and the master key provided but not the 4 standard lugs that were removed. Not a big deal and I should have kept the ones from my trade-in if I had known I was not getting them. If you care, make sure to ask for them.

Which accessories are you going to choose for your TLX? My Ebony/Ebony test car had the woodgrain-look steering wheel, and I didn't like it at all. The woodgrain trim was on the top of the wheel and very shiny. I saw a Graphite TLX with the chrome door trim, and it was beautiful. I don't think there would be enough contrast with the SSM, but if you're getting a dark car or even the white, I highly recommend the chrome trim!
I might go with the decklid spoiler, or maybe the protection package I.
