Wheel weight ??

Does anyone know the wheel weight for the factory 18" wheels. Searching for new wheels but would like to be able to compare weights.

BUMP. I would like to know now, what is the weight of the stock 18" wheels? I'm looking to get new wheels in the spring and this bit of info will help in the decision making.

since we're on that topic, how wide are the stock wheels?

17x8, 18x8, 19x8. The offset is +55. I can't find the weight of any of the rims, any where.

+1 I'm in the same boat at you, want to keep the weight the same, or even reduce if possible.

has anybody changed wheels on the AWD TL yet? If so can you weigh one of the wheels with or without the tire so we can have that info? thanks.

When I weighed my 18" AWD wheel, it came in around 52-53 lbs and that's with the tire obviously. Tirerack lists our factory tire at 27 lbs, so a fairly good guess of the 18" wheel itself would be around 25-26 lbs.

Does anyone know what happens if we reduce the weight of the wheel+tire combo by 5-10 lbs each?

Just being curious...

From a physics point of view, that will translate to a 10-20 lbs weight savings each when they spin up. Traction, handling, etc., I have no idea.

Nothing specific, but it can only help the performance.

absolutely will it help performance, better accelleration, better breaking, better handling. When you reduce the weight of the wheels/tires, you are reducing unsprung weight.

Since we're talking about wheel weight, and how a small reduction in wheel weight can translate to a large weight reduction due to reducing unsprung weight... Who makes wheels for Acura, 18" or 19", that have a low weight?

I've seen some BBS's that are 19 and 20 lbs, but they don't seem to fit the Acura's.

Anyone have any brand recommendations?

I found a couple BBS's on tirerack, only 18" they said would fit the Acura TL. I should have clarified above, I specifically would like 19", but I did find some 19lb 18" BBS's at tirerack. Let me check on those other brands and see what I can find.

I don't think the TL would have problems with 19" or 20" BBSs as long as it's the same 5*120 bold pattern.

tirerack doesn't list all off BBS wheels either, it looks like they don't list any of the expensive ones.

Yea, damn... i guess light = expensive... I don't know if I want to pay around $1000 per wheel. That's probably going to be too much. It's a good thing RonJon has so many great wheels, maybe the Sentinel will be coming out in the spring for one more option.

Your opinion please...

After much search, I managed to find some lighter wheels for the TL. The thing is, in your opinion, do you think the extra light wheels go well with the TL character?

IMO, I would like to go for lightweight wheels and tirerack has some OZ alleggerita ou ultraleggara that weight around 18.5 lbs for 18x8. For spring, summer & fall, I would go for those wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S plus for a great light weight+great all around tire combo. I know I could go with extreme summer tires but it would restrict me to May-September to use them. While with UHP all-season tires I can go mid april til mid november, so I gain 2 months of driving pleasure.

For the record, I found some very nice Work Varitas T1S wheels or Emotion 11R but they weight more, cost more and might not be TPMS friendly. HRE wheels seemed to be to chromy for my taste also...

Thanks for your input!
