Wheel suggestions??

New to the forum, first time poster! I just replaced my ’05 TL with a 2010 TL WDP. Had them install the under spoilers. I’m about to order the grille from ronjon. Cant’ wait!!

My question is this: I’m getting ready to buy some wheels. I like the Work Gnosis GS1’s:

And I like the Vossen WS 083’s:

Should I do 19” or 20”? I like the look of the 20”, but I’m really concerned about the ride. I’m a mom with 2 young kids. I want to be the soccer mom with the hottest ride , but I don’t want my kids’ teeth rattling out. Suggestions??

BTW - sorry if it wasn't ok to post pics here. I'm still trying to figure out all the rules!

Those Vossen's are hot I can't speak to the ride on the 19's or 20's since I need to wait till spring to get my 19's. But I've read other posts that mentioned that the ride with 19's wasn't much different than stock. I'm hoping someone else on here with 20's can enlighten us all on the ride quality.

No matter what you choose, WDP with the RJ grille & 19's or 20's, you'll win for the sickest ride!

First of all welcome!

I really like both sets of wheels, but if I had to pick one, it would be the Works.

I had 20s on my 04 TL for not quite a year and I didn't notice a change in ride comfort whatsoever. Since the 4G TL has a beefier body and bigger wheel arches than the 3G, at least it appears to, 20s will fit that area much better than 19s. If you opt to go 19s, then you may want to drop the car a little because the gap between the tire and the fender will be quite large, making the wheels look small.

Welcome, congrats on the new TL. I'd go with the Works, in 20's, for the 4G.

LadyTL, call me, I have some ideas on wheels if you want to go over them with me, I'd be glad to explain what we have available including some all new wheel designs.

Another question. If I stagger the wheels, the rears would be between 10-10.5". Will that rub?

Welcome!!!..

I've got a WDP / the Underbody spoilers and the RJ Grille... and my first wheel choice was Work Gnosis GS1.... but i havent pulled the trigger yet.. it takes me a long time to decide on wheels.. so i think you made a tactful decision if you purchase them....

Also, in terms of fitment, here is what i think you can do to avoid rubbing

Front Wheel - MAX - 20x9 +40
Rear Wheel - Max 20x10 +50

Also, you'll need thinner tires .... 235/35/20...

I was gonna rock 20x9 +40 all around ... R-Disk up front, O-Disk in the rear (to give the staggered appearance)

Welcome!

Personally, I'd go with the 20" Work GS1 out of the two, but your picture is showing a GS3. You should checkout some BBSs too.

The Vossen VVS-083 only come in a 20" or 22" size and 9" and 10.5" widths. They are a beautiful rim though but are slightly more expensive than RonDog's. Good luck and Happy New Year!

I really like the Vossen. Don't know if they have the offsets like the Work wheels. Is there another solution if I go with the 20x10.5? Also, will the tires be too big if I go with 245/35/20? That seemed to be the size they had on the ron jon wheels that were 20s?

245/35/20 is WAY too wide, for a 10 or 10.5" wheel... you will rub, without lowering the vehicle.

The 4G is a very high offset wheel. OEM is 17/18/19 x 8.0 +55

I checked the Vossen wheels, and they dont say offset, so you can only hope its custom made

Personally, 20x9 all around, with like a +38 offset w/ a 235/35/20 tire is perfect for me.

If you go 20x10.5 in the rear, you will need a +50 ~ +60 Offset, and a 235/35/20 tire, which is a stretched tire on a 10.5" wide wheel

Also, with an offset that high on the rear wheel @ 10.5" wide, you may want to watch for other things rubbing beside the fender lining tab

Sick looking wheels in my opinion...

I REEEAAALLYY appreciate the info. But, if I were to go with a 20x9, with the different offsets for a staggered look, could I go with a 245/35/20? The reason I ask is that I ran a tire size calculator on the stock 17" wheels versus the 235/35/20, and the difference looks like it will cause me to be off on my speed. The 245/35/20 is a VERY minor difference. Sorry to be a pest, but at the cost of these wheels, I want to be sure before I make the buy.

Thanks again for everything!!!

No problem...

You are correct, the speed-o may be off, but we are talking about maybe 1-2mph... a problem you will face with just about any wheel and tire upgrade

If you are really feeling that staggered look, go for it!! But IMO, 10.5" is a bit too wide

If you did...

20x9 +50 Front, and 20x9 +40 Rear, you can probably run with the 245/35/20 tire, and have no rubbing... but if you ever lower the car, or have 4-5 people in the car, its a close call... nothing a quick fender tab cutting/rolling cant fix...

I'm pretty amped to see what your car will look like...

Heres a P/S of mine with the Gnosis GS1

Its a mild drop, and a pretty accurate representation of what 20" wheels will look like on this car

I did some homework for ya

It looks like (from a distributor) that the Vossen wheels come with these offsets

20x9 +25 or +35

20x10.5 +27 or +42

Thats just the mono-block. if you go for forged, the choices are endless, but probably gonna be around $800-$1100 a wheel

If you are head strong on that wheel...

20 x 9 +35 w/ a 235/35/20 tire. exactly what i would do if i picked that wheel

The good thing about Work Wheels, you can order ANY offset you want... you just have to wait about 10-12 weeks to get your wheels

I think I was quoted $4800 for the 3 piece Vossen wheels Sick wheels but I'd stick with the monoblock ones lol

OP, either wheel will look sick on the 4G. Happy hunting

Really glad I stumbled upon this thread. I intend on purchasing a new TL within the next 6 weeks. To the OP I really like the Work wheels you posted. I am not all that knowledgeable w/ all the specs but really like their look.

Personally I like the GS2s but to each is own.

When the time comes I guess I'll be asking the same question about Sizes, offsets, and tire size.

I hope you wheel buying experience goes well.

Work Wheels, like the Gnosis, Varianza and etc... are all Custom Made PCD/Width when you order them... so you can perfect your wheel size to get the most aggressive fitment without running into issues

CHeck out these wheels we did, 3 piece, 8.5" width all around, different offsets (3.5" lip in the front, 4.5" lip in the rear) to counter the crazy fenders of the Accord.

He went with the 255/35/20 for extra traction and comfort:

Ive had two sets of work wheels. Ive had nothing but good experiences with works. I had a set of work euroline SL 20" on my 4G TL and the ride was not harsh at all. Id say go for 20's

+1 pics or it's a lie

I've noticed that Acurazine has more instances where people say "I've seen this or I've had this" and people call them out on it and they actually delivery the pics. If I tried this on a Prelude website, there'd be no more posts in a forum at all and everyone would know it's the truth!
