What tire pressures do you run at?

Contemplating running a little over the recommended PSI, and want to take a poll here. List your cold tire pressure for and front and rear if different than what's recommended. Thanks guys/gals!

Funny I've been monitoring the tires lately as my FWD is really broken in now, I have 31 all around cold, then it usually jumps up to 32psi when hot.

32 psi at around 12 Celcius. After 10 minutes of driving, its around 33 psi. After a long run (1+ hours), it goes to 34-35 psi.

Just curious. What's wrong with the recommended 32 psi all around?

There's nothing wrong with that rec. It will probably get the best overall tire wear and not compromise handling or safety.

Like some others, I run mine about 2 psi higher than the rec because I like more immediate response to turn-in and cornering. There is a very slight trade-off in ride, but I crank the wheel more than others and hopefully edge wear will be less with higher pressure. This has been my experience over multiple sets of tires and my driving style.

That being said, there are many posts about big-time increases in tire pressure and hyper-miling. I used to put an extra 10 psi in my street tires when I was on the track so they wouldn't overheat or fold under, but I would never do that on public roads.

Interesting. Thanks for the explanation!

34F 34R cold. adjust it every month for temp changes. I have been getting 16 mpg in the 2 months I have had the car based on the type of driving I do. A lot of stop and go and short trips around with the kids. I am hoping the increase in pressure will help milage a little.

I have the 19" Diamonds on mine. I always run 80% of max pressure on the fronts and 2lbs less on the rears. For my tires I run 42lbs front and 40lbs rear. The ride has not suffered at all from the increased pressure. I do this because of a 90mile per day commute at freeway speeds to help with MPG's. I have been doing this for years on all of my vehicles and have never had tire wear issues or performance issues. I do however religiously rotate & balance every 5k without fail and have a road force balance done at 10k. Hope this helps.

/\/\/\/\ ll_22......With this vehicle I am seeing between a 1-1.5mpg difference. I was averaging between 24-24.6 mpg figured over 2k miles before I bumped up the pressure. The last 3.5k miles have been averaging 26.1 mpg. All figures are from pen and paper not the MFD.

On my Diesel Jetta it netted me almost 3mpg's more. FWIW... I do not drive this like I stole it but rather for efficiency because of the commute. And believe me going from a vehicle the netted me 46+mpg to one that only gets me 26mpg is a hard pill to swallow . Every other fill up I do a serious italian tune up and I also reset the ECU. For me personally, the ECU reset is night and day even after 2 weeks of driving and 1000 miles. This may be more noticeable to me because I spend more than 2hrs a day in the TL. I fill up at the same Chevron with Premium using the same pump with 3 full shutoffs every time to help eliminate any variables.

I am confident that if I was running the stock 17's instead of the 19's that my mileage would be closer to 30mpg. I had two tanks that netted me close to 29mpg's on these 19's, but the running average over the last 7 fill-ups (3500 miles) is 26.1mpg pen and paper.

What is the purpose of the ECU reset, and how do you do this?
