TPMS question when change rims

for those already changed rims, what did you do with the TPMS sensor on the old rims? you just remove it and attach on to the new ones?

That's it! Just unscrew them from the old rims, and screw them in to the new ones!

What does the sensor look like? Is it a easy install?

As for this question, here is a pic of it on a 2-piece wheel:

For 1-piece rims, the valve stem cap you see there to the right side of the TPMS, is the part which sticks out of the rim at the hole.

Ah nice. So if you get a flat, the sensor most likely get smashed, depending where it's mounted?

Nope, the edges of the rim will support the car, since rims are concave.

But, even if the rims were flat, and the TPMS stuck out, what choice do you have if you want to run multi-piece wheels?

You could go without them, but the warning light would be on, and your MID would inform you of the missing TPMS every time you started the car.

The iforged adapter is "universal" and can be bought separetly. I am 99% sure that this is how it was ~ a year ago. Look in 3G for threads/posts by JD TL-S and Kennedy.

Kennedy also posted some pics of using the standard TMPS and then strapping them to the wheel barrel.

Do those things have batteries in them? I read that some do and some don't.

All TPMS should have batteries in them. Battery life lasts anywhere from 3 to 5 years, because they figure you'll be getting new tires before the battery actually dies.

I'm glad I found this thread. I will be installing my new wheels later today. I purchased a separate set of TPMS for my new rims. Is there any programming needed for the new TPMS? Or will it just automatically connect?

If they are the same type as OEM, in most case you shouldn't need to have them reprogramed.

I upgraded my wheels, and used the same OEM TPMS with no reprogramming.

what about tire rotation? do the tpms need to be reprogrammed? I'm guessing you won't get a warning but won't indicated the right wheels if one of them doesn't have enough pressure.

what is the cost for a new set of TPMS sensors? I'm looking to get rims for the summer and use the stock ones for the winter and would like to have this feature on both sets of wheels....how would this work??
