Spacer Insall on 2009 SH-AWD

I lowered my car on H&R springs, and immediately noticed that due to the car being lower, and the wheels cambering in - the fact that the wheels were recessed into the wheel wells was more pronounced.

I have been wanting to get rid of that sunken in look for a while. I have viewed a lot of photos online here at AZ of different setups to decide what would look best for my car.

I opted for 20mm for the front and 25mm for the rear. I ordered the spacers from motorsport tech and paid about $285 shipped for the entire setup.

the spacers are really nice quality.

I have attached some before / after pics

Overall - i really like them. I think it really makes the car look more aggressive. Ideally one could just buy wider wheels - but this is more cost effective. My car came with OEM 19s..whcih I like. I was not ready to drop the money for a set of Vossens / new tires / etc.

If you are going for the "bang for the buck" route - dropping on H&Rs and adding spacers is a lot cheaper than doing coils and new wheels! Arguably, the "better" way to do it is the former..but if you are on a budget like me - this is the way to go.

I have ZERO vibration issues with thiese spacetrs..and I have had the car up to triple digit speeds.. on a closed course / track ... i know there are cheaper spacers our there - but these are nice.

here is before

AFTER

All Done... relaxing

I did experiment with putting the 20mm on BOTH the front and rear.. and I have to admit I liked how that looked as well. If anyone is contemplating spacers.. I think they would be fine with 20/20 or 20/25.. From some angles, I actually liked how it looked wtih 20/20 better... I think the lower your car goes, and the closer to you get to zero fender gap - the 25s will look better...but if you are at stock ride height, or lowered on springs only.. then 20 all around would look perfectly fine.

Overall - I'm really happy with how it turned out. I had a lot of helpful comments from various members here on AZ giving me advice and suggestions - thanks to ALL of you!

Feel free to post any comments or observations. thanks!

Nice! Like a tailoring a suit.

H&R/stock19s/spacers just makes this great car better looking yet keeps it from looking modified.

BTW - I have 20mm all around and I can see the difference in back with 25mm. Yep, either way is all good.

thanks guys! for the money it was a great mod. the guys at motorsport tech make quality stuff. the spacers are very nice quality items... and given how fast I have taken the car - and felt ZERO vibration.. you know these things are made to exacting standards.

Now I need the body kit.. then eventually coilovers... this mod bug never ends...

spacer question

I have a 2010 6mt with the 19" diamond 10 spoke acura rims with HR springs. I have 5 ml all around, but when I tried just moving to 15 mm spacers the studs were short. Did you guys remove the old studs and used extended studs?

Why would you get such small spacers? And no w/ 21mm spacers all around I didn't have to get extended studs.

the spacers I bought come with studs built into them. they look like this... the spacer bolts onto the hub... and the spacer has it's own studs, which your wheel bolts onto.

I ended up ordering 23mm front and rear Motorsport tech spacers. Next up will be the H&R springs. Your car looks great.

put up pics of 23mm spacers.

i didn't know they would do any size you wanted... i think that might be a great setup.

now that i've had my spacers for a while..i think the rears could go in just a bit and he fronts could come out just a bit..

and so 23mm might be a perfect setup... i'd be interested to see it!

I acutally like my 25mm rears! But I do agree, the front with 20mm could come out a bit more.

No pics because the spacers ended up cracking my wheel locks. The spacers were only on for 2 days. They sent me spacers with studs that were too long. I have a 2014 SH-AWD Advance with OEM 19 inch wheels and OEM wheel locks. I have to contact Motorsport Tech in regards. The studs are too long cracking the center of the wheel locks and making the center come off. The spacers were installed with a torque wrench and the wheels too. It's not the first spacer install I have done, the quality of the studs they provide are garbage.

I'm assuming the studs are pressed in onto the spacers? Maybe replace there crappy studs w/ another brand or maybe even a oem stud?

They are pressed in, they charged me $40 for crap studs. I am going to end up replacing with good quality studs. Possibly ARP studs.
