Front Axles and Tie Rods

Pretty sure my front axles are done, getting clunking noises over random bumps. I checked free play and I'm getting a lot of movement up/down within the boot. I see that rockauto has different brands available, any recommendations which one I should go with and which one to avoid? I know OEM is an option but they are texa$. Same with both front tie rods.

If you aren’t going back OEM, the only other brand I trust is MOOG for suspension parts. I’ve installed countless MOOG parts on side jobs and never had a come back.

Be careful with Rock Auto! Not sure what year your TL is (2010 still?) but if it's 2012+, the 6-speed auto has a different spline count for the CV axles. Rock Auto does NOT have the correct CV axles across the board. I got mine and the spline count was wrong. If you can't verify that it has the correct number of splines (29, on the inboard side), don't buy it. Rock Auto will not give you a full refund because "our vendor says it's supposed to fit and we can't verify it so you have to split shipping costs back to us and the packaging better be clean and the part can't have been attempted to install". It's baloney - they should KNOW a part doesn't fit, based on returns, and pull it from their database...

If you have an earlier model year (2009-2011 with the 5-speed auto), you should be fine.

FYI, the passenger-side axle is "out of production" and so you may have issues finding it.

Damn out of production?....
Aftermarket axles coms with a lot of vibration. If possible stick with OEM. Our 4th Gen already come with enough vibration. Wherever you can try not to add more vibration to the ride. Goodluck with your findings.

I just put Raxles axles in my TL and they are excellent quality. I'm told aftermarkets like Moog, etc shake real bad.
