ExtremeContact DW vs Potenza RE760 Sport

I am thinking about getting summer tires instead of the all season tires for an Acura TL 2009 SH-AWD - 18's. I have dedicated tires for winter use.

My preference is 'comfort' and 'quiet' vs all out performance. I tend to park a lot on a driveway in the sun (southern Ontario) so having a flat spot may be a concern when in parked for 2-3 days in the same spot for the week.

ExtremeContact DW vs Potenza RE760 Sport?

I have the Conti's. So far (less than a thousand miles on them) a very smooth riding and quiet tire. Very good in the rain and pretty sticky in the dry.

You get what you pay for.

And here is where I think the opinions get skewed to one side. Someone has driven on the DWS and assume the DW are just as good. All of the sudden 6 guys chime in and give a glowing review on some average tires and "Brand recognition" comes into play.

Search for reviews from actual owners and you may find a different opinion.

I contemplated the same two tires, and i went with the RE760 Sport. I've got 245-40-19's. I got all 4, installed and roadforce balanced for $1050, at Simply Tire in Toronto. ( I live in Kitchener). I'll give you a non biased review:

Pros:

- Very smooth Tires.
- Handles great. Actually quite suprised at the wet handling, sticks like crazy glue to the road.
- Durability so far has been great, can hardly tell of any wear.

Cons:
- These tires do suffer from the flat spot syndrom, but every so slightly. After about 2 minutes of driving, they are smooth as ever again.
- Air pressure flucuates quite significantly with these tires. They heat up very quick, thus making them a little hard, and also cool down quite quick when the temps drop. This can probably be fixed with Nitrogen fill instead of air.

Other than that, very happy with these tires, especially for the price.

If you are leaning more toward the comfort side of things, the RE760 would be my suggestion and is what I have on my car currently. The DW does provide a good ride for a Max Performance tire but the RE760 is better. Like anything, there are trade-offs to be made.

I had the Conti (brand new set) on when I bought my car. I personally was not happy with them. Noisy and rough ride. Lasted only 20K miles and had to replace them.

I now have the Motivo's and am very happy with them.
