18-19'' tires for TL: Grand Touring or Ultra High Performance All-season?
Hello!
As per the title, I'm wondering what type of tires I should replace my OEM with. I'm leaning toward 2 types:
Grand Touring All-Season: Michelin Primacy MXV4
Ultrahigh Performance All-Season: Brigdestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position and the likes
I live in Quebec with bad roads, varying weather (I'll have dedicated snow tires).
Priorities are:
1) Handling
2) Confort
3) Threadwead
4) Noise
I'll drive around 6k miles each year with those tires.
Also, I wanted your opinion: regular air or nitrogen? Personnaly I would do it as I check the tires pressure weekly...
What would be your choice and why?
Thank you and have a good day!

Excellent question! I thought summer tires would be as durable as all-season since the rubber tend to be softer. I would like to have tires that last a solid 20k miles IF it's possible.

That was another consideration, it can get net 32-40F in early spring even when all the snow is gone so Ultra-high performance all season tires seems more like a solid compromise and they should last longer as well.

Now that I think of it, my friend's stock summer tires on his 08 sti only lasted about 15k miles (no track use). I did a brief search and looks like the aforementioned Michelin Primacy MXV4 and Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus are the best choice at about $220/each. Or save some money and go with Kumho Ecsta LX Platinum for about $150/each.

In all honesty, I lean toward the Sport Plus because I'm curious to test Ultra-high performance all-season tires and I can handle a rougher ride.
Thanks a lot for your research!

we put ALOT of primacy's on audis. they have been holding up great. I have not had any complaints about them.
pilot sport a/s is great, but they do not last long, on audi's at least. I have one owner that replaced them about every 15K miles on his '06 A8L, then we switched him to a contiprocontact as he didn't need a performance tire....
