New member here, just bought an 09 TL with Tech package. All stock and very happy with the car. I learned pretty much most of the need to know functions, but for some reason I can't rip reg cd into the HDD after I cleared/deleted the prev owners stored musics. I can select to auto or manual rip, but when I inserted a cd a warning screen pops-up! RIPPING OR AUDIO PLAYBACK IS NOT AVAILABLE IN THIS VEHICLE. Please help, I would like to rip couple baby/kids music cd for the kids. Thank you in advance.

 

read manual or call dealer. Perhaps you may want to disconnect the battery and have radio reset and put code in and see if that does anything. Worth a shot.

 

I disconnected the battery overnight and reconnected it back input my radio/navi code and still no joy. it will not record/rip CD into hard drive. warning window pops-up! RIPPING OR AUDIO PLAYBACK IS NOT AVAILABLE IN THIS VEHICLE.

 

Go to youtube and search on "2012-2009 Acura tl Hard drive (HDD) tutorial". This 3+ minute video will show you how to manually shutoff the automatic recording of CDs. It also shows you how to go to the menu and restore or manually select recording. I think this is all in the owners manual but haven't had time to read. I'm not technically competent enough to provide a link. Hope this works, please let us know.

 

Thanks for taking the time to help out. I would say, I tried all related HDD tutural online and read the manual many times, but nothing came close to the problem I'm experiencing. I can set the HDD to "auto / manual" rip, but it doesn't work. big pop up screen come out "RIPPING OR AUDIO PLAYBACK IS NOT AVAILABLE IN THIS VEHICLE." It's like that function is no longer avail in the CAR. Dealer wants $800 to repair it.

 

another option is to find a stock unit to swap out maybe. sorry about this because I rip cd's all day long. I'd be pissed if this feature didn't work for me.

 

Problem fix!
in the 'diagnostic test' > HDD setup> allow ripping. I'm guessing the previous owner disabled this feature to prevent overwriting files/music already in the HDD.
