My bad to start another thread regarding this whistling noise but im just really disappointed that my dealer cannot figure out why this is happening.

I have a 2012 TL(base) with 22k miles and the whistling noise comes around when i get to 50mph. Took my car to the dealer this morning and yes they are aware of the noise and that the propeller shaft is defective.......BUT only on AWD model. Now, they want to keep the car for 2-3 days(or longer) so they can do a more extensive research to figure what's causing this "tea kettle"-like whistling noise.

Is there anyone here that has/have experienced this problem on a base model?
Please advise..........THANKS!

 

I don't have this issue on the TL, however my wife has an RL and she has this high whistling noise at nearly all speeds and it will drive you absolutely crazy.

 

Just a thought...No ultrasonic Deer Whistles on the car, correct?

They are common here in the PNW, and when plugged just right with a small insect, can be heard by humans. Very annoying noise.

i dont hear the damn whistle if my windows are rolled down or if the radio is on but otherwise, it will drive u nuts......

 

nope, nothin like that installed on my TL. no aftermarket device or mods done to the car....except for tinted windows which was done a week after i drove the car out of the lot, 22k miles ago.

 

Then must be a window gasket or recirculating door or the HVAC.

 

RL whistles = AWD TL whistles -> SH-AWD -> bad propeller shaft.

But FWD TL whistle is definitely something else.

 

thanks for the input, fellas! will def tell the dealer on Thursday when i come back. was told by them, btw, that they might have to uninstall/reinstall the windshield....hoping it solves the mystery.

 

So they figure out that the windshield is causing the whistling noises ?

 

have not gone back to the dealer yet. will do on Thursday...

 

picked up my TL the other day and after a week at the dealership....the mystery of the whistling noise is finally solved. thank GOD!
they did a bunch of tests/diagnostics, a lot of taping and covering(and then test drive)......and then they found the culprit to be the driverside side view mirror. wheeeew! just a minor imperfection with the fit so they replaced it with a brand new sideview mirror.

 

Consider yourself lucky you are dealing with a dealership that is dedicated to Acura! Trust me, most from what we read every day don't go to such lengths to fix stuff like this. Bravo to them! Me thinks they deserve an official recognition here.

 

thanks tony! great dealership we got here in metro Detroit for fixing the problem.....plus the fact that the loaner they gave me was a brand spanking new White Pearl 2013 TL SH-AWD.......i did not want to return it back absolutely loved it!

might have to stop by on Monday and drop off a couple of large pizza and sneak in a 12-pack. just a little way to appreciate the service dept staff..
