Two questions/issues on new 2012 TL

Purchased Black 2012 Acura TL, Advance, FWD, Black Interior on Memorial Day. Beautiful car! There are two questions I have. 1) has anyone had any speedometer accuracy issues? This car is tighter and more responsive than any car I've ever had. Love it! But it seems my speedometer reading is higher than I actually feel. I know it may be just me, but when I am traveling 55, 65, 70..., compared to other cars around me, it seems the reading is higher than I am going. For example, when going 55-60, other cars around me in 55 mph zone, often pass me. When I am going 65, 70 mph, obviously above the speed limit, instead of passing other cars, most seem to be keeping up with me-some are going faster, Granted, when I punch it, I quickly smoke 'em. LOL... This is not an obvious observation, but more of a feeling, subtle type of thing. Anyone else had or felt what I do? I am good friends with the sheriff of the county (haha) and plan on getting him to follow me and radar me!

2) When I put my automatic into reverse, backing out of my driveway, parking spot, etc..., the car goes into reverse motion automatically without me touching the accelerator pedal. it doesn't acclerate, just starts to move. It happens at stop signs, traffic lights as well. I am in drive, stopped, but when I take foot off the brake, the car goes into a slight forward motion. That may be normal. I had a Ford SUV before this vehicle, and it was recalled for that very issue! It was a cable of some sort that had to be replaced. Again, any thoughts? Thanks in advance! Other than that, love my car!!

For #1, I guess that would be a visit to the dealer to verify accuracy. Tire size can affect speedometer readings but I don't think this is the issue. Try to get your friend to hit you with radar and see. Many cars "feel" like they are traveling at different speeds. My truck feels slow at at 70 compared to the TL.

#2, that is normal to me. I normally keep my foot on the brake when I switch gears but have changed gears without the brake and the car rolled in that direction. My 3G did the same.

yeah, it's a not big issue, just wanted to ask the question, and get other responses. I hope to real soon, get someone to radar my car... legally of course. LOL.

An easy way to verify your speedometer is to get a portable gps and compare the two speeds

...and if you don't have a portable GPS, there are a bunch of free Android phone apps if you search "speedometer" in the market. I imagine iphone has some too. They're remarkably accurate, at least when I used in my 01 CL-S. Which this post reminds me, I need to try it now in my new TL!

Let me get this straight...You're wondering if its normal for when your car is in "drive" and you take your foot off the brake that it moves forward?

I was going to ask the same question, then was going to ask if this was the first automatic car the OP has ever driven.

Guys, not trying to sound like an idiot. I said it was just a minor question. i tend to drive my cars for a very long time. My last vehicle, was an SUV (Ford Explorer), and had it for 10 years. I have driven many automatic cars and manual transmissions. My Ford Explorer received a recall on a cable that was about this very issue. It was a safety issue. Yes, when transmission was in Forward Drive (D), the SUV would automatically roll forward. The reason (according to Ford, and the government), was if in forward, foot OFF the accelerator, at stop signs, red lights, parking spaces, etc.... if the car pushed forward with no acceleration, it could cause an accident for someone not paying attention. And actually, I never noticed it until I received the recall. Of course any sane person SHOULD have their foot on the brake, etc... to prevent this. But that is what the Ford people told me about 7 years ago. They replaced a cable, and it did not happen again. With my new Acura, it does the same thing, but probably a bit more. When parked in the garage, i put it in reverse, NO foot on the accelerator, it moves backwards, down my driveway (about 30 yards), and out into the road without me even touching the accelerator. Granted, it's only moving about 1-2 mph. I put it in Drive, and it moves forward, up a slight hill all the way UP to the end of my street (probably another 150 yards), very slowly, to the stop sign leading into a bigger highway without me ever touching the accelerator. Now, I am just describing in depth what it does, yes, asking if that is normal. Doesn't really matter to me, just asking. I certainly use my brake appropriately. LOL. Like I said my SUV did the same thing, but not as much, and it was recalled and fixed for that very issue.
