Turn Off Voice Help?

I've went through the setup screens and can't seem to find a spot to turn off the voice that reads out the long help paragraph to me when I push the voice button on the steering wheel. It seems like there has to be a way, other than pushing the button a second time to shut her up every time Would someone point me in the right direction?

You need to change the Interface Dial Feedback from Auto to Off in the setup screen. This should do what you want.

I wish we could also get rid of the "OK" screen and have it go right to the nav screen!

I'm pretty sure that I did this but perhaps it didn't take? I'm out of town until Thursday but will check and report back.

I hear you about the OK prompt as well! I love the electronics on the Acura, but how disappointing is 2d navigation system without TTS? I'll probably keep using the navigation on my cell phone.

There is another option you can select which allows it to read street names so while it is 2D it does offer a certain level of Text to speech.

I don't understand why car navigation systems are not on the same level as modern phone GPS.

You don't say which model year you have. On mine, a '12, you open the Info screen. Then navigate to Setup, Other, Basic Settings. Then turn off the Voice Recognition Tutor. It's on p. 107 of the '12 Nav Manual.

Yep, I have a '12. I'm guessing that's what needs to be set. I'll try it on Thursday.

Also the '12 Nav does have TTS .... but I believe you have to turn on "Speak Street Names" it's in there somewhere.

If you turn off the voice confirmation you lose the "what time is it" and "what is today's date" feature (which may or may not be important to you). However, an alternative to turning off the voice confirmation is to give the voice command button two quick pushes and just speak your desired command. A PITA?, maybe, but an alternative.

I noticed that as well, I'm hoping that there will be a few fixes with a software update down the road.
