Transmission making a "clunk" noise

I've noticed when coming to stop, as the car is downshifting, it is making a noise and at the same time you can feel it. I'm driving in D when this occurs and the "clunk" noise happens when the car comes to a full stop. Anyone else have noticed this? Any suggestions would be appreciated...

Pay no attention to the hater behind the 3G curtain. LOL. I have the FWD and have not experienced this, however I have a clunk when the gear changes from reverse to D. My 3G did this as well, but the 4G is louder and catches my ear every time. Please let us know if anything develops.

If the noise is heard when switch gears or even when accelerating for the first time after switching to or from any gear, it's completely normal. In fact all cars I've owned have had the same normal sound, not just Hondas.

What I would recommend is, completely coming to a stop before switching gears. This will ultimately prolong the life of your transmition, I learned this the hard way.

I have a FWD TL and I am curious to know if anyone else is experiencing this. Whenever I shift from Park to Drive, from Reverse to Drive, or from Drive to Park I can hear the gears engaging and it sounds like a scrape. It's not loud but very audible. It doesn't happen just once in a while but everytime I shift in the above sequences. I spoke to the dealer about this but the only resolution is to bring it in, which I haven't done so...yet. Anyone with the same issue? I am curious to know, maybe it is something to be concerned about. Thx.

The dealer said it was just the gears engaging, and it's quite normal as all the 09 TL AWD/FWD do this, some just louder than others.

I think it's the case with all Honda/Acuras but don't you hear this in all automatic cars? Especially when you're parked on a hill. Even with the side break I hear a loud clung when the gears are engaging so I usually give like a second or two and then step on the gas pedal.

I've heard this click in every Honda AT I've owned, and I hear it outside from my GF's 07 Accord. Some louder than others, but this is definitely a Honda AT characteristic. I much prefer it to the clunks, thuds and shudders from other brands.

I'm getting this with my 09 TL as well.

I used to own an 08 Accord, and it had the same issue.

However it does NOT happen on my 09 MDX.

I actually meant to say that the clunking noise (for both my current 09 TL and previously owned 08 Accord) occurs when I shift from R to D, and then press on the gas pedal immediately after. If I wait 3 seconds or more after then shift from R to D, then the clunking noise does not happen when I press on the gas pedal.

2008 MDX does the same thing. So should I NOT be worried, since some of you say this is a acuraism/Hondaism. If anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know.
