Transmission clunk reverse into drive
My new (1600 mi) 2010 tl shawd has been making a loud clunk when shifting from reverse into drive, but only when cold and not every day. Anyone else with this problem? I'll be taking it in to the dealer if it continues for another week but wanted to see if this is a known problem. Thanks for all input.
Kind of sounds like driving over a beer can,I hear it too. For me it doesn't matter if its warm or cold, just shifting from reverse to drive. Its been so long since I have owned an automatic transmission I wasn't sure if that was a normal sound. That being said, transmission overall works fine. Will have dealership check at first scheduled maintenance.
well-known Honda AT characteristic, there's another thread that goes into detail. I find that if you wait a good 1-2 seconds after you shift into Drive before you take foot off brake it minimizes the sound. But that's the sound the AT makes when shifting, a metallic click that is louder when you rapidly go from R to D.
